Mayfield/Trousdale County, TN Predictions

Featured Replies

Trousdale coming off 15-0 season and returning lots of players. Mayfield looked very impressive against a weak Marshall Co. Team last friday. Win or lose I look for this to tell the tale about this Cardinal team. Mayfield has more weapons than I have seen in many years, maybe ever. If the defense can pull through maybe we can pull this out. Trousdale could be the best team we play this season. They have Max preps ranking of #9 overall in the state of Tennesee. Any other comments or views?

That may be overstating it a bit, but I catch your drift in that Mayfield has more weapons than the past few seasons. This should be a really good match-up for both teams. They have played on a few other occasions and it was always some good battles. Good luck to the Cards. :thumb:

While I'm pulling for Mayfield, I believe Trousdale is going too much for the Cardinals.

Trousdale 35

Mayfield 20

Even though it was preseason scrimmage...Mayfield played toe-to-toe with a Milan squad that is rated higher than Trousdale County. Mayfield will have to play like they did last Friday and even a little better to win...but I think it will be a game that goes down to the wire as Mayfield has more overall team speed and talent than I have seen from a Mayfield team since 2002...hope they live up to that team's overall success...or at least the final result. Should be a great game to watch with two powerful teams hooking up.

Mayfield 31

Trousdale - 28

Yeah, its one of those games I will be proud to say I went to, one of those games you always refer back to and talk about. I don't remember going down to Trousdale on the last matchup but I am told I was there, lol. Anyways, this game could go either way, I am just hoping it goes the cardinal way, lol. If nothing else, this should show our defense where the problem spots are and make for an easy measuring stick for our offense.

Trousdale is always good to real good. Mayfield better be back to the old Mayfield teams or it will be a long night because Trousdale is real good.

Trousdale has a good team...but they are nowhere near the 9th best team in Tennessee...nor is Milan.

9th best or not... more than 1 ratings system keeps Milan ahead of Trousdale. Agree with Snot that the teams in far Western Kentucky (on Mayfield's schedule anyway) appear to be average or a bit below this year. Trousdale will/should present some of the stiffest competition Mayfield will see throughout the year. Win or lose this Saturday, this will give everyone a good idea to what level the Cardinals have elevated their game to. Either way, I feel much, much better about this year's version of the team. So much better that I joined Bluegrass Preps to weigh in on the subject.

I agree Milan is rated higher...and they should be. By Sonny Moore's ratings..Milan is 32nd and TC is 95th. His ratings are usually pretty accurate.

Trousdale is nowhere near the 9th best team in the state.

I think Mayfield beats TC this week.

Trousdale is probably not in the top 100 teams in the state. They are class A.

From their roster Trousdale seems to have some pretty hefty boys on their line...may be a matchup of size versus speed this coming Saturday night. That is not to say that Trousdale isn't fast or that Mayfield doesn't have size mind you...as I suspect that both teams have a good mixture of both. Will also be interesting to see how Mayfield adapts to playing the wing-T this week after playing the spread offense last week against Marshall. Should be a great matchup and a fun game for both teams and both sets of fans...will be a good measuring stick for both teams and should show what they each need to work on for the rest of the season.

Here's to a great game and that everyone comes out healthy in this early season battle :thumb:

Both are very well coached and very well disciplined. I used to live in Paducah...and saw Mayfield several times. Trousdale is very likely the best conditioned team in TN. They do have size...and they do have good speed. They don't throw much...but when they do...they are successful.

Trousdale is not in 1a this year. They moved up to 2a as TN went to 6 public classes. They are close in size to Mayfield.

Trousdale is nowhere near the 9th best team in the state.

Not saying Trousdale isn't in the top 100 in Tennessee is saying like Beechwood is not in the top 100 in Kentucky. Trousdale is the defending state champion and coming off an undefeated season.

However, one clue that the Trousdale team may not be as good as last year is what they did last week (vs) a, not so good, Macon County team (coming off a one win season). Trousdale gave up a whopping 34 pts to Macon, their defense barely gave up 34 pts during the entire 2008 season! With Mayfield's O clicking here early in the season, I think this will end up being a shootout... lots of points on the board. 41-34 Mayfield
