Tigers score 17 straight points to get the win despite having 4 turnovers.

Good win for the Tigers...was listening to some of the action tonight driving back from Marshall County...sounded like Tilghman had control of it until a couple of turnovers turned the game around. Big win for Hoptown...and a bad loss for Tilghman...with last years struggles...I just wonder if this will be the start of another long year for PT and Coach Randy Wyatt.

 

P.S. heard that one of Tilghmans players was carted off in the contest...prayers go out to him and his family and that hopefully he will make a swift and full recovery

Don't have anything in the way of stats, but here was my take on the game.

 

This is the least talent I have ever seen from a Hopkinsville team ... no gamebreakers of any kind. Tilghman could be a pretty good 3A team, but their offense has a long way to go.

 

Tilghman led 14-0 in the second quarter. The first score came after a Hopkinsville turnover deep in their own territory, the second came after a touchdown pass to basketball star Josh Forrest.

 

Denzel Powell, who is one of Tilghman's fastest guys and best athletes, picked off a pass near midfield and was tripped up on the return. It didn't look that bad or anything, but you could tell he was hurt badly by the immediate reaction of his teammates. I'm told he dislocated the knee and has extensive ligament damage.

 

There was a delay of 20-30 minutes to deal with the injury, and from that point, Tilghman appeared to deflate.

 

I believe Tilghman led 14-0 early in the fourth quarter, but Hoptown tied the game with two touchdown passes and kicked a field goal to go up with 1:33 left.

 

Tilghman drove down and tried a 32-yard field goal as time expired ... it was wide left.

 

Neither team looked very good offensively.

 

Hoptown will struggle mightily in 5A. Tilghman has a chance to be good in 3A, but they have to find ways to overcome and adapt when some things go bad.

Very suprised with this one, thought it would be an easy W for Hoptown...usually a very solid team.

For whatever reason PT was a different team after Powell's injury. Tilghman was in it until the final play. Overall, it was a night of poor offensive execution for PT and 8 penalties.

WPSD said that the Powell kid broke his leg on that play, tough loss for Tilghman. The announcer said the same thing the other poster said, the team just wasn't the same after Powell left the game.
