Corey Pelle, the 2007 N. KY. Enquirer Player of the Year from Silver Grove, will be on CSTV tomorrow at 3pm. Pelle has had a great 2 years at West Liberty State, leading them to 20 win seasons both years. He is currently averaging 17 ppg, 6apg and already set the single season school record for steals. CSTV is CBS' cable station, and its available on DirecTV (Channel 613) and DISH network (Channel 152). I am sure Pelle's Cafe will be packed tomorrow afternoon. Being part of the D 3 has its positives and negatives. I feel it would be better for these schools to play each other 1 time a year mandatory, and then if they want to schedule each other again, the second game would not count in the conference. Silver Grove ran into the same problem a few years back with the Pelle Boys and Wiseman. It's tough to schedule when you are locked into 14 conference games, 3 mandatory district seeding games, the All A and a particular Christmas tourney. It really only leaves the coach 3 or 4 games to schedule on their own. For the past 7 or 8 years the D 3 champ has usually won 13 or 14 games and can compete among the mid to upper echelon teams. When it comes to the end of the year, it makes it tough on these D 3 champs, because they haven't been able to schedule how they would like. However, talent at the D 3 level greatly fluctuates year to year and that is why they all agree to still play each other twice.

I was somewhat surprised Grant Pangallo didn't get the D 2 Mr. Hustle award. In the few times I have seen them play, he doesn't stop. He is consistently diving on the floor/stands, taking charges, etc. I can't really think of a better candidate. However, I have only seen Anderson a few times, so I don't want to take anything away from him.

Division II Newcath 14-10 (5-2) Brossart 17-8 (4-2) Highlands 19-7 (4-2) St. Henry 13-10 (3-3) Holy Cross 13-11 (3-3) Newport 15-10 (3-4) I believe the only All A Classic game that counts is NewCath's win over St. Henry, because they cancelled their regular season game. Also, Lloyd is D 2, pretty sure they are at the bottom of the standings. Given that, I believe the records would be: NewCath 4-2 Brossart 4-2 Highlands 4-2 St. Henry 3-2 Holy Cross 3-2 Newport ? played Lloyd twice, didn't play St. Henry Lloyd 0-6 or 1-5, depending on which Npt. game counts for D 2 As of the current standings the tiebreaker would go to NewCath, bc they beat both Brossart and Highlands. However, if Holy Cross wins tonight, they would also be 4-2, with a win over NewCath. Either way, there will be a 4 way tie at the top. If St. Henry wins tonight, then NewCath is the winner. If HC wins, I have no idea.

Silver Grove? That's news to me. Coach Sharp has done an excellent job with the talent he has. His kids play very hard and are well prepared for every game. Not only that, but Matt holds the kids accountable and instills discipline, which is very lacking at SGHS. They just won at Augusta last week. I don't think people realize how tough it is to win when you only have 30 boys in the ENTIRE high school. Good luck to the school administrators if they think they can find someone better.

Does anyone know if this game is on for tonight? Both schools were closed. Brossart has not played in 12 days and Lloyd is coming off a big win vs Dixie.

Pretty good showing by the Grove. Sounds like it was in the single digits until about 1 minute to go in the third. Coach Sharp has them improving every game and they play hard.

Kevin Klein at St. X. He did a great job at Waggener and is doing very well with the Tigers this year. They have played a tough schedule and their losses have all been very close to good teams.

I stand corrected and didn't know all the details involved. My apologies for jumping to conclusion. Sounds like it was an excellent experience for all involved.

How is a player out of town during the season (unless its a funeral or family emergency)? Does a committment to the team mean anything anymore?

Anyone? I was very impressed with Ballou earlier in the week. I believe Morehead got a good one there, and he could be giving the Maroons problems.

Corey Pelle was hands down, the best player to come out of the Grove. He led the entire Greater Cincinnati area in scoring at 29 ppg and was named the Enquirer Player of the Year. And before you knock the schedule, he did this against the All A champs and state leader in defense, Bishop Brossart (3 times). He is currently averaging 15 ppg for D 2 West Liberty College, who is 6-1. Pelle also leads the conference in steals and assists.

I can see having a bad class or 2, but why does this happen every other year?

It seems like Willie's group of seniors each year is either 6 or 7 or nobody. He never has 4 or 5 seniors consistently.

Uphill-I actually remember a front page article the Enquirer did on Josh Neace, the handicapped manager from SG who made the free throw. That was the front page for the entire area, not just KY and led to interest from many regional and national media outlets. With over 30 schools to cover in NKY, and a limited budget, they do above and beyond.

Or maybe it's the fact that Highlands and CovCath are typically in the top 3 in both football and basketball. In addition, those teams usually play the tougher schedules and players from around the state. I am pretty certain Ryan came to Silver Grove multiple times to do stories on Corey Pelle. People want to read about the top teams and players. If you want coverage, work on your game and get better.

Has the 5/3 bracket been released? If not, does anyone know what teams will be participating in this?

Who is participating in this year's Panorama? They usually get some good teams in this and it is usually the 3rd Saturday in Nov.

Are there any orphanages in KY? With the way parents can be today, I would go with an orphanage.
