Look for Corey Pelle of Silver Grove to have a big year. After Miller and Knowles, he could be the best player. Nearly upset Brossart himself in the districts last year with a 27 pt, 10 assist game. Played with N.KY. Shining Star AAU team this summer, and averaged 15 ppg in the AAU Nationals, which included a game against O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker. Backcourt sidekick Teddy Wiseman will also have a big year for the Big Trains-had over 40 pts in a summer game at Augusta.

John Chamberlain hands down. He is heads and shoulders better than anyone in the 10th. He gives the same effort a Silver Grove-Deming game, as a Mason/Clark game.

Is it a current 10th Region head coach? Possibly Hinson from St. Pat?

Corey Pelle has gotten some interest from NKU, Georgetown and Belmont. I think a D2 or an NAIA would be a great fit. If he can get stronger, the sky is the limit. And at 6'1, he can put 15-20 pounds of muscle on him. He had 40 pts in a game on Monday. The bigger the game, the bigger he plays. He will lead Northern Kentucky in scoring, and maybe a few other categories.

One kid's grandma was dying in Florida and the left Friday and the other three had to work. You can't expect kids to call into work the night before, and the coach understands that. Most of the kids in the Grove aren't handed car keys when they turn 16. If they want a car and insurance for it, they have to earn it themselves. Point blank, Silver Grove was doing a favor by filling in so four games didn't have to be cancelled. All three games would have been the same result with or without the two kids from Dixie. Nobody mentions anything that they had to play streetball all 4 games. There was not one set play run, and I know they have a bunch of them.

The next coach will be Garnett or Terry Trame. Garnett has done a good job at Conner, and I hear there is some preference for someone already in the Boone Co. School System.

Silver Grove was asked at 5pm on Friday to fill in for another team who couldn't make it. Given they only have 35 boys in the school, it is difficult to round up 8 kids on that short of notice. Their coach told Listerman and Keener (who runs SOAS) they would bring as many kids as possible. Keener said he would have a couple others there to make sure they would have enough. SG ended up bringing 7 kids, but were missing 4 of their top 10 players (including 2 guys who started some last year). The lost to Louisville Manuel by 9pts, beat Beechwood by 26 and lost to Clark Montesorri by 12. Clark Mont. was very athletic and had 4 dunks. Corey Pelle had close to 30 pts each game. Nobody is transferring and Silver Grove would have preferred to play without Mace and Shields. Keener forced their hand.

What guys are playing for Holmes this summer?

Silver Grove played Turpin and Moeller last night. Turpin won 45-42 in the first game and Moeller won 47-33 in the second game. The Big Trains play Boone and Holmes at Holmes on Saturday at 10am.

Also, I believe he got married to someone from the Covington area, which played a role in his decision.

Pelle had 15 pts and 4 assists, not sure on Sharp. During the regular season-I think it was both teams first game-Pelle had 22.

They definately could use some help inside and with the bench. Someone told me they only have around 35 boys in the school. Looking at the KHSAA website, they are the smallest public school in the state with 84 students 9-12.

The Grove only loses two players-Corey's brother Justin (19ppg, 10rpg) and Justin Faulkner (8pts, 7rpg). They have 5 guys returning who all started at some point during the year. Teddy Wiseman, who had a 34 pt game last year, will be much improved. Their play inside and bench will be their biggest challenge. As for their schedule, they are committed to the 14 D3 conference games and the four district games. Other than that, they play Pendleton County and in the Berea X-Mas tourney (which usually has some good teams). With their limitations with their schedule, they are playing Cincinnati Moeller, NewCath, Dixie, Conner, Boone Co., Ryle, Lexington Christian and Harrison County over the summer. It may be a little much, but the extra competition has obviously helped Corey Pelle (who by the way is the top five in N.KY in batting avg.)

Add Corey Pelle of Silver Grove to the mix of premier players in the region. He is currently ranked tenth in N.KY. People can say all they want about playing against mostly small schools, but he proved himself this weekend at the State AAU. He had 25 points and 5 assists against the Derek Smith team made up of J-Town, Male, Ballard and E-Town stars. If he can do this there, he can play with anyone.

It sounds like this may be more of a nepotism issue and something with the AD.........

My guess would be Todd Messer, the former Fleming coach. He has made it well-known that he should have gone to Clay a few years back when he had the chance.

This is a good hire. Key has done a good job at Berea, in a very tough district and region.

Buddy Biggs from Pendleton may be a possibility.....

Thomas More, with an average of 5 wins a season in the Terry Connor era, would get beat by many high school teams.

Who says Brossart will be in the finals? The Grove is playing their best ball as of late, averaging close to 77 points a game. Beat Fleming by 7, Ludlow by 13 on the road and took Beechwood to overtime. They were tied 23-23 with Brossart last time before Corey Pelle got in foul trouble. I look for a closer game than most think.
