Not trying to start rumors, but a source close to the Holmes program stated that Henley was leaving even before the Ryle job opened up.

Why would you leave a program that you have a chance at advancing in the State Tournament. Even if it is a mess down there... I would stick out one more year with the studs they have coming back. It could be a bad decision to stay but you would think he could get the kids to play as a team for atleast one last year.

 

Niemi's resignation letter was drawn up at the end of last year with the religious literature distributed.

Maybe the possible opportunity to go to the state tournament is not worth the headaches that surely will come with this coming season at Holmes.

Bennett from Walton- chance to go to a bigger school-

Kyle Macy- hey- he's out of a job now!

Jeff Trame- looking to get back in it??

at this late date, I am not sure how many would be interested, but they should have a chance to win in the near future. Ryle was picked 4th in 9th region for next year.

The problem at Ryle is that too many parents have always had an input. Whenever you have an open practice for parents to attend you are asking for trouble b/c little Johnny runs faster than little Freddy in sprints so why isn't he getting more playing time. Niemi has always been a nice family man but unfortunately if you don't let the team and the parents know who is in charge you end the same way he ended up, watching the last game from the stands while your assistant coaches and parents fuss.

Bro, that's the problem at most places. A better idea is to allow the coach to coach and a parent to be a parent. Be supportive and quit making excuses. As important as wins and losses are now a days at the high school level, anyone that is not playing who they think is their best is an idiot and won't be around long.

Sounds like it should work that way doesn't it?? Why do you think the kid transferred to Cov Cath? Why do you think there was always a racial issue brought up this yr? Why do you think Niemi was suspended for quoting a few Bible verses? Because Little Johnny is better than Little Freddy (so they think), the kid buys into it and like wild fire it spreads. When you have a team with a lot of equal talent, like Ryle has had over the past few yrs, you have a hard time w/ parents and kids as far as who are the "studs" on the team. Other than Robbie Lykes, and maybe one or two others, there was not a big difference in talent level in that program.

Whoever picks Ryle to be 4th in the 9th region next year definitely does not know how to judge basketball talent.

With this list the only coaches that make sense are Faust or Henley.

The dominos could fall- Holmes or St Henry could open up. Things could get interesting in the 9th region.

The next coach will be Garnett or Terry Trame. Garnett has done a good job at Conner, and I hear there is some preference for someone already in the Boone Co. School System.

He is returning major thoroughbreds this year..... unless he just wants more to do on the weekends.... i don't see him leaving South Laurel....

 

This was in response to the candidate list....not your quote Farmboy...sorry...hit the wrong button. I like your choice on Faust... he could be looking for a HIGHER salary...

To much parent involvement is happening all over the state and has been getting worse for the last 5 to 10 years. The real shame is that there are very supportive parents out there, but it is those that act so immature and act as if they know everything and only want what is BEST for THEIR kid that ruins for the whole bunch.

For those of you who keep saying Henley will be getting the job or is a candidate, you don't know much and your hearing rumors. Henley just received an assistant principal job at Holmes so why would he leave? If he was truly interested in leaving for another school, i dont think he would have accepted the position he has now. Also while it may get frustrating down at Holmes sometimes, he truly does care about those young men. Talent has nothing to do with it.
