Ryle Basketball- Leading Candidates

To much parent involvement is happening all over the state and has been getting worse for the last 5 to 10 years. The real shame is that there are very supportive parents out there, but it is those that act so immature and act as if they know everything and only want what is BEST for THEIR kid that ruins for the whole bunch.

We finally agree on something :thumb:

Does the fact that no one is hearing anything increase the liklihood that they stay in house? Is that good for Terry Trame & Alan Mullins?

Not too sure about that. New administration means everyone's on the same level, no matter where they currently are coaching.

Chevalier is looking at a pretty good run at Dixie in the next couple of years. Ryle would still seem to be a great opportunity but not better than what Dixie will be for the next few years.

He may have a nice run of players going right now at Dixie but IMO in the long run the Ryle position is a much more attractive job for the right guy who can come in and say this is the way we are going to do things and parents if you don't like it then take your child somewhere else.

As for now the subject of Chevalier is just speculation because as I said he inquired and then withdrew his name from consideration. Apparently he agrees with you.:thumb:

Any confirmation that they have even interviewed anyone? Any anxiety from the Raider faithful if they haven't?

This is just me, but I think there are alot better choices out their than Chevalier. Just me, never been a big fan.

He's done a pretty good job.

Lost in a heartbreaker to Holmes in the semis two years ago, which more than anything was the region final.

Avenged the defeat of Holmes this year. Overcame quite a few injuries and the loss of some key players from the 05 team. The team played fairly well down the stretch.

Off the top of my head, he took them farther than Draud did on back to back seasons...

Just my impression on watching Dixie program the last couple years. I though there were some questionable lineup decisions last year. Also defeating Holmes minus Rice was not a huge accomplishment last year.

He is an alright coach. But if I'm ryle with how attractive my location and school is, I can be a little more picky.

Dixie advanced into the semi-finals.

They beat who they had to play.

I dont think Holmes felt their win was any less significant in the 05 region final with Conner missing a key player.

They had a lot of injuries last year.

More talent at Dixie than Ryle in my opinon.

I think the basketball talent at Ryle has been grossly exaggerated. A Doellman here, a Feagan their...pretty much everyone else is the same type player.

What might make this an attractive job, right now is that in a few years Ryle could find themselves in the 8th Region, with another realignment.

I am assuming that their will be another high school built within in the next 3-5 years in Boone County. Conner is busting at the seams. They opened the new middle school off of Camp Ernst, and the high school, from what I have heard, may be located somewhere near there, which would redraw lines that could affect Ryle HS.

Its not even talent has to do with location, facilities, and pay.

Taking the players themselves out of the decision, Ryle might be the most attractive job in NKY.

Location with possibility of going to the 8th Region is the biggest draw.

Facilities. Ryle has a nice gym. Is it their only gym? Is there an auxilary gym? Some schools like SK have two. Conner has an auxillary now. I think Boone has a smaller one. Holmes has 3.

Pay. Far overrated in high school unless you are moving from private to public. Then it is more enticing.

You can go to most large public high schools and be a head coach in either football or basketball and make decent coin, in the range of 10K supplemental.

A big draw is what you will do during the day. Will you be teaching a full load? An office assignment...and so forth. That many times can offset a few thousand dollars of pay.

Any ideas on who has applied or been interviewed?

I will be surprised if the new coach is not Alan Mullins.

Would be a great choice and seems to be a logical choice.
