Best College Prospect in Northern Ky?

Featured Replies

Who do you guys think has the best chance to succeed at the next level?

My top players in order.

1- Austin Hill- Good size and very athletic. Very good shooter as well. Could be a lockdown defender when he wants. Excellent rebounder for a guard. Needs to work on decision making.

2- Zach Kiernan- Nice body and technicaly pretty sound. Very strong with the ball and has a nice touch around the basket. A good athlete but not great. Needs to work on his quickness and a mid-range shot.

3- Mike Hester- Great athlete and hard worker. A good shooter but a little streaky. Very unselfish almost to a fault but overall good decision maker. Needs to work on getting bigger and stronger. Can't do anything about his height but would be even better with 15 more pounds or so.

4- Duran Jefferson- More weight and strength would be good for Duran too. Quickest player in the area with best court vision. Runs the fastbreak about as good as you can and can get to the basket at anytime. Needs to work on his jumpshot and his attitude is a bit of a concern.

5- Arrez Henderson- Excellent athlete with a good body. Very strong finisher with the ability to guard anyone. Needs to work on his ballhandling and his perimeter game. Will put up big numbers his senior year.

Austin Hill- Has received a ton of attention during the July recruiting period. Has played fantastic basketball and has already received a number of offers. There are a lot of coaches that are going to be in Orlando that are going to be taking long looks at Austin. My phone has been going crazy with coaches calling about Austin.

He outplayed some of the better players in Louisville. He really turned his game up a couple of notches.

Zach Kiernan-Was an absolute beast at the Hoosier Shootout in Indy. He has received a lot of attention as well. He will have numerous basketball offers if he wants. He is done for the summer due to the start of football.

I totally disagree that he is not very quick. He is one of the quickest big men that I have watched play this summer. During the summer period he has outplayed a lot of great players. During the state tournament he outplayed Pettigrew from Derek Smith All Stars.

Mike Hester-Came back strong after having the cast on his arm. He played great basketball in Indy and Louisville. He has put himself in a great position. He will be showcasing his abilities in Orlando starting next week.

Mike has shown the ability to score while directing his team as well. He is a very skilled and unique player. This kid is one of the most unselfish players you will ever see play!!

Since CPelle has shown he can play the Guard position in AAU ball with some of the best around the state and country.....where do you see him getting offers from? NAIA...Div 2.....???

I love Corey's game. I think he has a great all around game. Probably a NAIA school or D-2 school would be might guess. I think he would get alot more recognition and pub if he played at a bigger school.

Budman - What type of offers has Austin Hill received? D1? D2?

Well, the Shining Stars schedule this summer probably will get him some looks.

Corey Pelle and Todd Jacobs are both going to get offers to play somewhere. Corey and Todd have been a fantastic guard duo!!

Corey is very versatile. He played a lot of point guard when Hester was hurt. He can also play shooting guard or swing over and play the three. He is a nice kid to have on a roster.

I think Austin Hill of Holmes and Kiernan of NCC have to be the best two prospects in NKY. Both already have the size and body to play at the next level and football will help them get even stronger by the time hoop season rolls around.

While Jefferson and Hester are both fantastic point guards with excellent court vision, I think they need to put on a little weight. Jefferson will be able to do this because of football but Hester can't rely on his athleticism and speed at the next level like he does now, because once you get to the next level, everyone is just as fast and athletic as you. but with Hester's work ethic, I see no reason why he can't succeed at the next level.

Cory Pelle will also be an excellent pick up for any team at the next level. He just has that scorin ability and work ethic that he can play with anyone.

I know Mississippi St has been recruiting Austin very hard since the beginning of his jr year but I think Austin wants to play football as well in college so they may not be a consideration. I doubt they'd let him play both, but you never know.

Corey Pelle has gotten some interest from NKU, Georgetown and Belmont. I think a D2 or an NAIA would be a great fit. If he can get stronger, the sky is the limit. And at 6'1, he can put 15-20 pounds of muscle on him. He had 40 pts in a game on Monday. The bigger the game, the bigger he plays. He will lead Northern Kentucky in scoring, and maybe a few other categories.

I think you can scratch Kiernan from the list, I don't see him hitting the hardwood at the next level.

Austin Hill if he is that set on football.... he may be a possible future NFL body.

The thing about Austin is he already has the body of an average NFL receiver. If he can work on his speed just a little he could go big D1 and probably be in the NFL some day. Austin is a special player both football and basketball.

I think that's quite a bit of a stretch to say he would probably be in the NFL someday. Austin is a tremendous athlete no doubt but I think he is in love with basketball and not football. He would probably get recruited by a few D-1 schools if he focused more on the pigskin but the hardwood is where he wants to be. NFL? I personally doubt that.

An NFL body already????

As far as future.....he has to be realistic and figure out if he has a better chance playing after college in Football or Basketball.
