Best College Prospect in Northern Ky?

He did have one blowup against Holmes during SK's 2nd game of the season but after that I saw no evidence of being a "hot head".

Thank you NEERFAN someone who has actual facts. Mike wasnt kicked off his aau team several times and suspended from school ball either. So your comparison is totaly ridiculous. As for the Holmes game Mike asked the ref to call a foul and the ref gave him a technical. It was Steiner's decision to not put him back in the rest of the game. Mike was in the wrong there I know but that was the only incident and not that big.

We both have our opinions. Thats fine, yours just happens to be wrong. Mike has had a problem with his emotions but that was with himself. When he was playing bad he got upset with himself. He never gets on teammates for mistakes. Mike comes to practice everyday and practices hard and doesnt see himself on a different plateu. Last year Mike as far as I can remember didnt have any problems like he did earlier in his career but as far as I can remember there were alot of posts on here about a player blowing a regional game because of his attitude. And like I said before Ive been around both these kids since 4th grade and my statement seems to be more true.

I'm laughing because you said my opinion is wrong, opinions can't be wrong bud...

You're obviously very biased on this situation, all you have done since getting on BGP has been criticizing Holmes players and coaches and touting Hester and Edmonson, get out from behind those glasses of yours and I might take you seriously...

What are you talking about man? Go back and read my posts. I had Holmes as my number 1 team in Nky and had 3 of Holmes' players on my top 5 list. And I don't recall ever touting Nate Edmonson either. You really need to get your facts together man. Your now making yourself look silly. As for a bias, yes I do have one for Mike Hester. Simply because I love to watch the kid play and have alot of respect for how much heart the kid has. What's so wrong with that?

You've gotta be kidding right? One player doesn't blow a game for a team. Sure Duran got a T but Holmes had PLENTY of chances to put Dixie away and couldn't. Also, if I remember correctly they were like 6 for 20 from the line and still only lost by 4 points?

I have also known both of these kids since their elementary days at Glenn O and Mike's days at 9th district.

It's nice to know that you know most people's opinion. I've been around both these kids since their Glenn O Swing days and I know lots of people that would disagree with YOUR belief.

Your talking to a guy who lived a block away from Glenn o Swing for 20 years.

It does no good to explain these things man...what would those of us who have lived around these kids since they were 6 and 7 and watched them grow up know?

I have told you before that I have known these kids since the third grade. I've been to every national AAU tournament and countless other tourneys that these kids have been in. I am willing to bet that I know these kids alot better than you. OK. So quit with that. We can continue with this argument forever and not get anywhere. I believe that both Mike and Duran are great baketball players and are on about the same level. Mike does somethings better and Duran is better at somethings. I just believe that most coaches who know these two kids and have seen these two kids play would rather have Mike. And that's based on talent and attitude.

Cant comment on Hester, never seen him play. Only saw Duran play once against Highlands and he is one of the smoothest guards I have ever seen at the high school level. He lost his cool a couple of times, saw him jawing teammates for missing layups and not handling a couple of his passes. Not sure if that was just him being a leader out there or being a jerk.... you can take it a couple different ways I guess. He got in foul trouble that game also due to frustration..... and from what I heard in the Regional game his Technical was the dagger in their chest.......

You know these boys better than me?!? If only you knew. But as to college coaches who have seen both of them play wanting Mike more, why is he not getting the same looks as Duran? I can guarantee you and I'll bet my paycheck that Duran is getting more D1 looks than Mike. When Mike receives a letter from Florida, UNC (hand written) , Kansas, Illinois, or another big time program, then we can say MAYBE that coaches want Mike more. Bottom line is while both are great players and are better than one another in some areas, Duran already has all the tools to excel at the next level (height, speed, talent). Mike's down fall is his height.

Also i believe this thread is best college prospect, not who's better than one another. And right now Duran is the most heavily recruited GUARD in nky as far as D1 goes.

Don't think I'm bashing Mike because I'm really not. I know Mike personally and have for A LONG TIME. He is a fine young man and a great asset and player to any team. Heck he was the heart and soul of those great Tar Heel and Glenn O Swing championship teams. But as far as college goes, Duran is the better prospect and more highly recruit, and that is with being a 2 sport star in football as well.

The problem with Duran that sometimes give people the wrong perception of him is that when he gets on his teammates its not because he is trying to come down on them, but rather that he expects so much out of them. Duran is so used to playing with great playes like Mike, Austin, Rice, Edmondson, and is so used to winning, that when someone around him messes up, he expects them to try harder and do better. He knows what his teammates are capable of which is why he expects them to play at a higher level than everyone else.

I guess you just have to personally know him to realize that he means no harm by it. He and Austin Hill are best friends but you'll even see him come down on Austin every once in a while. Why? Because he expects his teammates to be better than everyone else on that floor.

Duran and Austin are best friends really? That statement alone leads me to believe that you dont know what you're talking about. You actually believe that Duran is going to Florida or UNC? He might get letters but letters dont mean nothing really. Was he getting college coaches looking at him all summer? Did Duran even play AAU ball this year? I can tell you right now that all of those players you mentioned have all said at one time or another that they hated to play with Duran. That's especially including his so called " best friend ". And as for Duran being the number 1 recruited guard in nky, you might want to tell Austin that.

Just stop already....why not just create problems for the kid? They are both nice prospects, Duran is already verbally committed to UK with hopes of walking on possibly in Basketball. Hester will get some looks from non Div 1 schools..... just let it go.
