Totally agree about taking the top 2 teams from each district. At the very least take top 3 with 1 seed getting a bye. Those 0-10 and 1-9 teams are not celebrating making the playoffs. Their reward is to go get blown out again. Makes no sense.

Scotty Russell - Evarts. 1991 Mr. Football. He is remembered for breaking the all time rushing record in KY, but he was an outstanding LB as well. Plus, he was a good punter/kicker.

Not taking anything away from the Mayfield coaching staff. I’m sure they’re top notch. But, you have to admit elite athletes don’t hurt.

Steurer has made 6 FGs this season with a long of 46. He routinely kicks the ball into the endzone on kickoffs, and his punting has improved this year as well. He will be on the Kentucky team in the "Battle of the Bluegrass" all star game. He will be a steal for any college team needing a kicker.

It should be a money maker for schools, unless they play an opponent who rents a field. Then you end up breaking even or having to pay if the gate is low. This should be a separate thread: Should visiting teams have to split the payment for field rental in the playoffs?

Good win for Gallatin after terrible loss at Switzerland Co. Their OL dominated the game and defense was able to get stops when they needed them. RB Dustin Johnson had 201 yards rushing.

I have no idea. I haven't seen most of them play, and I would bet that you haven't either. That's why it is hard to make those general statements about one district being the worst in the state. Unless they play each other, it is hard to make that statement.

These types of posts seem to pop up every year about District 5. It is true that this year these 5 teams appear to be down, but they have held their own in the playoffs in the past. None of these teams have beaten NewCath, but not many 2A teams in NKY have beaten them other than Holy Cross (state champion) a few years ago. District 6 hasn't dominated them as predicted by many. It is very possible that they get swept this year, but I wouldn't count on that. I would also have to disagree with the statement that this is the worst district in the state, especially this early in the season.

The coach has been coaching both girls and boys but wants to just coach the girls' team now. His daughter is on the team.

Great game. Great atmosphere. Coach Jones had a very good game plan, and his kids played their hearts out. I don't think Owen wants to see Gallatin in the district tournament. When these two play it's always a close one. Give credit to Owen in the second half for fighting back from 8 points down late in the 3rd.

Yes, I think they should share in the financial loss. What does this have to do with field rentals? This is a totally different situation. If you have to rent a field you are starting out $1800 in the hole.
