The one accurate thing you said was that the refs need to be fired. However, the back judge never called it a touchdown, and if you're going to say Elliott got in, which he didn't, it wasn't even close to four feet across. Everyone that had a good view of it whether they think he was in or not said it was by an inch in either direction. Now to the point about the refs, there were bad calls made all night. Isler's spot on the crucial fourth and short wasn't right. They forgot to signal to run the clock on CovCath's final possesion when it should have been running which added an extra 30 seconds. The fumble where the back was ruled down and anyone who saw it live or watching the replay on TV will say he wasn't even close to being down. If as a Beechwood fan you're going to say the refs cost you that game, then any CovCath fan could say that the refs gave you a chance to win that game when you shouldn't of even had one.

:thumb: I think that is the first time a Highlands fan has given credit to CovCath for their efforts today. CovCath being able to play with Highlands, one of the most talented teams in the state this year, shows they have the potential to play with any opponent despite their record.

Early diagnosis is a torn ACL, of course they won't know for sure until they get the MRI done on Monday. 3 more weeks is probabaly pushing it, but by week 10 or 11 is likely.

I know your one purpose on this site is to rip on CovCath and that doesnt bother me. But I am really curious as to how you can disagree with that statement??

The great thing about the playoff system in Kentucky is that 0-3 doesn't mean your season is over. If we were in Ohio I'd agree with you 100% that CovCath should just give up on this season and start using it to prepare for next season. However, all they have to do is win one game against either Scott, Holmes, or Highlands to make the playoffs. Also their kids are gaining more experience and improving as the year goes on as shown by the offense posting 28 on a good dixie team. Not to mention later in the season they'll get help from the returns of Pat Van Sant in a couple weeks and Brent Buckley around playoff time. So all that being said why give up when when they've only played 1/5 of their games for the year?

I think you might have been misinformed on not even close to returning, or maybe its your opinion of whats close. Thinking positively he could be back by Highlands, but it's more probable that he'll be back by Beechwood in week 6.

Roedig played well but the stand out at linebacker today was Mike Jacobs. The crosstown showdown people must have agreed as they gave him the award for MVP for CovCath in today's game.

:thumb: :thumb: I agree. That is definately the route I would have gone with the situation. The offensive line played 10 times better against Roger Bacon than it did against Ryle and it would have made sense to see all the candidates in that situation. I don't really want to say who I think should get the starting job because it's not my place too, but I will say I think its weird that Wehry took every snap against RB after not getting any against Ryle. I believe the other candidates deserved another scrimmage to show what they could do as well.

He's lookin at 5-8 weeks. Although losing a back of that caliber would be a huge blow to any team in the state, the back up combination of Will Deters and Tyler Lutz is as solid a backup as anyone could have.

CovCath will have a great core of wide outs with four seniors, Jake Punch, Austin Schneider, Matt Klare, and Chris Cason, rotating at the two wide out positions. They just haven't been getting much publicity playing behind Bovard and Ganshirt for two years.

Yes technically there hasn't been a starting quarterback named so all 6 quarterbacks are still in the running. However IMO in the end it will be either Furnish or Isler.

There are a couple of quarterbacks who can both be succesful at the varsity level with Isler and Furnish. Also there is a whole group of senior recievers who can step up and be big play makers. They've just been stuck behind top notch talent for two years. As was mentioned before the area that is the biggest question mark is the line. With senior center Andy Schulte being the only returning starter on the O-line some younger guys like junior Seth Teppe will be thrown into starting roles without much experience. CovCath's success this season depends on their o-lines ability to step up.

JMO, but if you leave Nutini in longer and then go strait to Niehaus CovCath wins this game. I'm not slighting Isler's ability he will be a great pitcher in the future, but coming off Tommy John's surgery he just didn't have enough innings thrown this year. The great thing for CovCath is they have all three of those guys back next year.

I'm not gonna lie. If it were up to me Highlands would lose every athletic event they participated in no matter what the sport. That being said I still have a great deal of respect for the talent they produce each year in football.

Kyle Furnish

There's 5 returning starters out of all 24 counting the kicker and punter, but the JV team had a great year last year and CovCath will reload fine. The majority of last year's senior class was exceptionally talented and started the year prior to that as juniors. For that reason it was very hard for any of last year's juniors to earn a starting spot, so a lot of people assume that means this years team isn't that good. However if you look at the success of last year's JV team and the talent of the younger guys that got playing time even though they didnt start, you will see that this year's team is being underestimated.

Yeah Moeller is on the schedule for sure. They're set to play the second last week of the season at Paul Brown Stadium.

I think one lift that helps a lot but isn't mentioned much is jammers. The jammer machine is designed strictly to improve explosivness and the ability to explode is everything in football. I don't know why a lot of programs don't put much emphasis on jammers.

Interviews are supposed to begin this week and the final decision should be announced on February 15th.

Yes he is still teaching there for the rest of the year. There really is no relationship or conversation in either direction from Mr. Rodenberg and the players still on the team for the up coming season. However some of the seniors from last season who will be graduating are still talking with him about colleges and he is helping them with their recruiting.

That is definately a sentiment that is widely felt.

With what was said to the players at the last team meeting this news today came as a total surprise to me. The most frustrating part is that he is leaving CovCath for a lesser quality program. Although I would still be upset, I would atleast understand if Rodenberg was leaving for an Elder or a Colerain type of school but Roger Bacon that just doesn't make sense to me. Now everything players have been working for the last few years is meaningless because everyone has to re-earn a spot and re-impress an entirely new coaching staff.
