Eating dinner as I type so not much at the moment.

1) Welcome to the starting lineup senior QB John Wehry. John did a very good job this afternoon moving the Colonels up and down the field.

2) New punter Zach Isler (Ice), boomed the ball once from inside his own the end zone, that wound out on the other side of midfield.

3) O-line looked much better, and did a good job with pass protection and run blocking.

The Bad.....

Brent Buckley was helped off the field with a bad ankle. Don't know how bad it was hurt, but they took him to the hospital to get it X-rayed.

Final score I think was 21-7....

Who won the scrimmage?

Oldguy said it 21 to 7 CCH, I heard the same thing.

Also, I understand Buckley is out but I don't know for how long.

Hope Buckley is back soon. This would be a big blow for cch, as their passing game did not look that strong. My count had them 4 for around 16 in passes. On the other hand, their running game was much better and the o-line held better. Defense looked strong again, but Roger Bacon didn't impress me much offensively or defensively.

4/16 would be incorrect. Heck, they probably completed at least 4 screens. JW had a nice touch on his deep balls (1 for a TD - 1 could have been a TD). Arm strength on the slant pass was very good . He and the receiver need to get on the same page. He struggled on the rollout to his right. He missed some short ones he should have completed. He knows he screwed up a few times and Coach B knows he screwed up. That's what happens at the qb position when you have the ball in your hands every snap.

However, he showed maturity. He threw the pick on the last play of the first drive but came right back and didn't let it bother him. He's a calming influence. Heck, when he threw the long TD, he simply ran down, got everyone in the huddle for the PAT and ran the next play.

He's not tall. He's not fast. He doesn't have the strongest arm. However, he's not afraid. He will take a hit and get back up in the huddle.

Sometimes leadership skills can be the difference between being #1 and #2 when all other attributes are close.

Stinks about Buckley...

You aren't kidding. He's a heck of a football player and nice kid. I hope he recovers soon.

I'd say he's out for quite a while. Darn shame for any senior.

You never know. Sometimes the most serious-looking injuries turn out to be minor.

Who is the backup...Deters?

Any work on Buckley? Hate to see that happen to anyone, especially a senior.

I hope he recovers soon, but i heard the same thing from a pretty reliable source that he might be out for quite some time. Yes it is a darn shame!!!! Nobody likes to see a young man work his tail off and be sidelined with an injury.

The beautiful thing is it's almost a given that he'll make it back this year. I would hate for him to miss it all. He deserves to cash in on all the hard work he has put in over the years. I know firsthand how he feels, my heart goes out to the young man.

He's lookin at 5-8 weeks. Although losing a back of that caliber would be a huge blow to any team in the state, the back up combination of Will Deters and Tyler Lutz is as solid a backup as anyone could have.
