Unhappy may not be the right phrase. I have never heard any of the Moeves family say one bad thing about WV. I think they have valued friends there. However, WV has lost its shine. Three years ago everyone associated with WV thought they were headed for unparalleled success. 1. McNeil 2. Moeves 3. Moeves 4. Helton 5. Burns a bench consisting of McCubbin, Sargent, Daugherty and others. Others may disagree, but that lineup could have won the 8th this year and would likely be the favorite this year. They would have won the8th all a and competed at state. Others have moved on for whatever reason and now basically the Moeves boys are left with a less than desire able situation. I don't think they dislike WV or the people there, but the hopes of the past haunt their future. Sometimes it is best to move on and start anew. It does not mean the new place is better or perfect, just a fresh start is needed.

The moeves family has the money to pay the tuition. Others may get deals, but that is not the case here. These are good people that value education. They also have a high regard for a catholic education. Mom is a product of a private school education. They have been contributing members of the Walton Verona community. They believe their kids will be happier elsewhere. I believe they have the right to do what is best for their kids. Sports is a factor, it is not the only factor.

I have seen Steiner, Duvall, Simpson, jones, holland, drury, and any other coach you want to list win games they should have lost and lose games they should have won. All are good coaches. Nice win by simon, both teams will be in the region, either could win, Collins has the most talent.

It's more complicated than a coaches meeting. There is a contract with the state all a and a fee. Then, your region rep needs to know to put you in the draw.

It was actually quite clear when I played. The offensive player had the space from his feet up. I do realize the game is very different now and I am not asking for the rules to be interpreted as they were in the 70's, however, the game is very rough today, and some of the problem is the defense is given too much of an advantage.

I would also agree with Clyde's assessment of a stationary elbow versus swinging elbows. Elbows outside the framework of the torso are a flagrant foul, but you have to let the offensive player pivot or he is at a disadvantage.

Rule of verticality used to apply to everyone. A defensive player establishes his position and it does not disappear if he jumps or raises his hands, I.e., ball is thrown to the post and the defender walls up, the offensive player dives into his arms, it is an offensive foul. By the same rule, an offensive player catches a ball or gets a rebound he has to be given space to land or any contact is suppose to be a defensive foul. Years ago, we were taught that the offensive players space was from his feet up to his shoulders. If an offensive player bends or pivots he should still have the opportunity to straighten up to his original position. In today's game, defensive players are in the offensive players space. It was understood when I played in the 70's that if you got elbowed while in the offensive players space the foul would be called on the defense, therefore, since it did not seem wise to get the foul and the pain, you generally stayed out of his space. I can not remember anyone getting a concussion in my era. Today, space is not granted and fouls are generally called on the offense. I am aware of numerous concussions already in this short season. Hands in someone's space is not the same as having your body (face) so close to the offensive player that he cannot move without hitting you. I would call the foul on the defense for violating the offensive players rule of verticality. Just my opinion of how the rules should be interpreted.

No one ever addresses the fact that the defense invades the space of the offensive player. If referees would call the defensive foul sooner, it would decrease the likely hood of anyone getting caught with an elbow.

It was probably the worst performance I have ever seen out of a gallatin team under coach jones. Rumor has it they will be out of bed early in the morning.

Not a shock to me. Eminence has inside and outside scoring. They matchup with everyone in their district. Coach Nethery has them believing.

It is a shame there is not much interest in this thread. These are probably the two best teams in the region and they evidently had a heck of a game.

Coach nethery has been improving this team each year. No surprise to me. They are a contender for the a in the 8th region. I expect them to surprise a couple of their district foes. Congrats to the warriors.

I agree. Tough call to decide a game. Both teams played hard, lots of turnovers for both teams. They will both get better.

Scott could not hit an outside shot but shot a boatload of threes. Mayes for Ryle dominated second half.

Jim Ray umpired and reffed for years in the 8th region. He died fairly quickly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was well known for having a good relationship with all the kids. The 8th region softball umpires association (I believe Jim was the first assigning secretary), raise money to provide a scholarship to an 8 th region softball player. I knew Jim well. He would have approved of the selection of JennaLee. I don't think her playing softball in college has anything to do with the award.

I think villas numbers are down. I don't see anyone getting cut as a result of this player playing for villa.

Basically no change in the 7th but a lot of shuffling in the 8th. I think Franklin County's three schools would love this. Eminenc, Henry and Owen would not be happy.

I disagree with much of this. Morgan and Levitch are the best players. Even if you are biased against them Simon should be ranked between 1 and 3. Henry County is in the top 10, possibly top 7. The kid that moved in from Detroit for Collins is a top 10 player, I think his name is Smith.

I know Happy and consider him a friend. However, I'm not convinced he will be a great high school coach. Typically high school coaches have to adapt their style each year to their talent. College coaches recruit to their style. Happy is best when he has the best athletes. He likes to press and trap and break you down off the dribble. As far as his transfers, I have no problem with families moving to a district to play for a coach. Free choice is what America is all about. However, I'm not a fan of kids living in someone else's basement in order to play ball somewhere. Hopefully, my man Happy is getting legit move ins.
