A great source told me the new coach should be announced Wednesday. The job has been offered and an answer is forthcoming.

The junior all star team may be a good idea, but the organization of this event was shaky at best. I don't believe the best players were invited.

Happy graduated from Morehead. He worked at Georgetown. This is a done deal. The financial package is quite creative. I believe it involves a generous salary for his wife as well.

Tim Davis at Campbellsville is another name to add to the list.

Kristian Morgan is a good something to start with. He will need others to step up.

You have compiled a very good list. I have always been impressed with Humphries GRC, Holland Oldham, Booher at Holmes, Henley at North Oldham and Code at Bishop Brossart. There teams are always pretty good.

Collins, South Oldham and Simon end the season with more talent returning. I will have to see rosters next year before I make predictions. There are a lot of rumors of potential movement of players, some gaining, some losing. It is early.

If Johnny heard it, we would be talking about Johnny's response.

I have ties to a small school. I never hear them complain about one class in basketball. I do hear the small schools complain about the prospect of getting destroyed in the playoffs of football. I don't buy the argument that a class system is best for kids. How often are any of the legitimate A schools going to beat University Heights with enrollment under 100? UH will dominate. There will be others in each class. When my favorite team upsets a 5 or 6 A opponent in the district or region, there is as much pride in our community as though we have qualified for state. There is only one team that doesn't end the season with a loss. I think that realization that we all are going to lose except for one, makes eventual failure easier to swallow. Ky had a weak state tournament this year, but we had some great district and regional drama. If you classify, you lose many of the great regional games. Gallatin(1A) pulled off a 19 point 4th quarter comeback on Simon Kenton (a good 6A team). I have heard several people from all levels of classification talk about that game. The region and district are part of our current process. We lose a lot by classifying.

What I hear from college coaches regarding Ky talent, is Ky basketball has better coaching and fundamentals than most other states. Indiana has more talent and probably one of the strongest reputations for producing more ready players.

The buzz in the preseason was Oldham, North Oldham, Collins and Owen County. Simon Kenton, Gallatin, and South Oldham got very little recognition on BGP early in the year. WV was suppose to win over SK per many posters. Yet Sk is 1 seed and wins their district. South graduated a lot. Yet, they are the 1 seed. They played Collins tight with a starter out in the region. I would give GC more credit, but they did not win the All A or district.

There is politics involved in all walks of life, it's part of the process. If I were a coach in the 14th, I probably would have voted for Day based on the info given here. I would not hose a superior talent for being a transfer, but if everything else were equal, it would swing my vote to the local kid.

I believe he is Billy's nephew. A very good coach. However, he tends to be a lightning rod, people love him or hate him, few fence riders.

There is a bias against kids that move in and coaches that have transfer players. I know several coaches that will not vote for either.

Classification fixes none of these problems. Bad small schools will not be competitive in a classified system. Powerhouse programs will develop. They will likely be the same programs that dominate other classified sports. Even the large schools will have a watered down field. Leave the sweet sixteen alone.

I agree. Oldham had 4 of 5 starters back from last years team that went to state. Therefore, in my opinion their success was expected. If Holland 3peats, I will toot his horn. They lose a lot this year.

Gallatin had a nice season as well. My rankings would be: 1. Simon Kenton 2. Owen County 3. Gallatin County 4. South Oldham and 5. Oldham County I was disappointed in North Oldham and Shelby County. Shelby should be better than they were this year.

I agree that Hicks looked like a better talent as a freshmen with Shelby County. Collins would have been at state if he had gone to Collins.

Davis was a bright spot to a subpar tourney. I enjoyed watching him play.
