When is Shelby County looking to hire their new coach and are there any names going around?

Being a new comer to the state and seeing all of this coaching change is very interesting. I guess this is what one should expect when you love basketball in a state like Kentucky. I find this job job very intriguing and was wondering who the front runners are? Some coaches that I have had a chance to watch that I think would be great choices. I have also talked to quite a few people and these are the names I am hearing for this positions. (In no particular order) Juan Byers (Bourbon County Girls) not sure what his interest would be I know he coaches his daughter but thought he did a great job, a young and upcoming coach Kevin Reinhardt (Nicholas County) I heard he was a great ball player at the high school and collegiate levels thought he did a nice job with what he had to work with really seemed to know the game, another young coach Chris Gaither (Collins Boys) did a great job at Collins worked well with his team doubt he would leave Collins just a name I heard, heard a rumor that a guy from the college ranks named B.J. Aldridge is interested in getting into Kentucky High School Basketball does anyone know who this is and what kind of background he has? Phillip Conder (Collins Girls) I think he got his start at Shelby County from talking with some folks don't know his interest level but heard great things about him. Being new to the state and having chance to watch a lot of hoops I think these guys have some tremendous upside in my option. Again I am just basing this on what I have seen and heard so I would love to hear input from people have been around for awhile.

I haven't heard as much as a rumor about this position. It may get filled from within...who knows?

Agree it was one of the top jobs in the state. Think maybe the opening of Collins and the growth of the Oldham Co schools has to figure into this in some way.

Sometimes hiring a young guy with a lot to prove and that is willing to work hard is exactly what a school needs to build its self back up.

One thing that I have learned in my old age is that no matter what, change is difficult but needed sometimes. Fresh ideals and concepts can really light a fire for inspiration. In my experiences as a coach and a business man, I have learned that a motivated, enthusiastic, and a tireless worker can be very contagious. Also in my experiences most of the time this comes from a younger person. This really helps recharge the battery and get the motor going again. Maybe getting a new face and fresh blood could recharge this program, helping them get back to being where they want to be. Out of curiosity are there any names that people have been hearing?

You are correct. 18 years ago Gallatin County turned the reins over to their JV coach, who had no head coaching experience. Worked out pretty well for the Wildcats.

Why does Scott Chalk's name keep getting thrown around in the threads on vacant coaching slots? Is he that unhappy at Franklin County?

This has the potential to be a great job for someone. I don't think someone without head coaching experience gets this job. I have been around Kentucky basketball a long time and these jobs usually go to veterans.
