Best team won, but wow those Gallatin boys showed why high school basketball is the purest sport to enjoy. They played with a lot of heart. They deserved to win but fate wasn't on their side. A lot to be proud of. Good luck to Owen as they advance to the finals.

I heard Highlands scored the winning bucket with 6 players on the floor. That would be a bitter pill to swallow from the Danville side.

Is WV good enough to beat ncc? I think it will be a very competitive game.

I have never understood why our countries freedoms don't extend to the schooling of our children. I get the need for boundaries, but if you care about sports enough to move to a new community so your child can play for that coach, so be it.

Coaches can nominate 2 players from their team. Then they can vote for five excluding their players I know a lot of good players were not nominated.

Your education is far more important than basketball, however, more is learned outside the classroom than inside it. I took my kids every year, age 4-19. Most years they were the only days they missed.

If you want to say for this year, I have already conceded the point. The 9th is better this year than the 8th. Historically, I just gave you the facts. They are about the same. Since realignment, your previously lone champion SK, hasn't been able to win the 8th. Climb down off the ivory tower and realize your performance at the state tournament is inferior to the country bumpkins to your south.

8th Region Shelby County State Champs 66 and 78, Scott County 98 9th Region Simon Kenton 81 (now in 8th) Holmes 09 Collins has Shelby's talent. Shelby and Collins will be elite teams in 2016, loads of young talent. They are comparable regions.

Year in and year out Cov Cath may be better. My point is there is not that much difference. Oldham has had some good talent over the years. Dante Smith went in the first round of the NBA draft out of Oldham. Shelby has had multiple Mr. Basketballs. Over the years the comparisons of talent is more similar than you think. UK players Mike Casey, Charles Hurt, Jimmy Dan Connor vs Dicky Beal, Troy McKinley, I'm sure I am missing some. My point is not to knock the 9th, I just don't think you all recognize there is talent in the 8th. There are down years in both regions and good years in both regions. Typically, a state championship run is going to come from Holmes, Cov Cath or New Cath or you could throw Highlands in the mix. The 8th has had Shelby County, Scott County and Oldham County at their top. Those 3 historically could play with any of your top 3. The rest of the schools have there good years. Scott County is gone now, but Collins, Shelby, Oldham and South Oldham will be traditional powers. I would agree that the 9th is better this year than the 8th. I don't know anyone that would argue that with you. But I think data could be gathered on the number of state tournament wins, the number of D1 athletes, etc, and it would show that the two regions are similar. The 9th is not in the class of the 6th, 7th or 11th, - neither is the 8th. Both are typically good enough to win a first round game if they get a good draw, but likely to get bounced before Saturday. The 8th isn't going to win this year - Hopkinsville is loaded, possibly the pick of the tourney.

The schools that have moved out of the 8th have competed at a higher level than the teams that have moved out of the 9th. Scott County was an 8th power, now an 11th power. Bullitt East has gone to state twice out of Louisville when they couldn't get out of the 8th. Collins compares to Holmes, Oldham compares to Cov Cath, South Oldham compares to New Cath, Anderson vs Cooper, Shelby vs Ryle, Grant vs Conner, Gallatin vs Newport, Owen vs St Henry, Henry vs HC, SK vs Dixie. I would say they are about even. Neither bring home the big trophy very often.

Admittedly, I'm jerking your chain a bit and having some fun at your expense. Guilty. SK crowds are small every year. I get the trip is long, etc., but no one can convince me any homework is worth the experience of seeing your school qualify to go to state. Life is about living not reading about it. I just find it funny that the fans can't stand the heat of criticism, but you can sure dish it out. Owen, spencer and Gallatin are relatively small schools that fill the house.

This is it in a nutshell. Most interactions with northern Kentuckians by non northern kentuckians leaves you with the feeling that they (NKY) associate more with Cincy than Ky. When I was younger, I would have told you I was from NKY (Grant Co), now I would never say that. They don't want anyone but the big 3 counties to be NKY. Gallatin, Grant, Pendleton, Bracken and Owen should geographically be NKY. Boone, Kenton and Campbell make it hard for the rest of the state to like them. They would say I have an inferiority complex, I am certain they have a superiority complex.

Traffic had nothing to do with it. SK never has a good crowd at the region. I find it interesting that a school that has the passion to constantly bash their football coach (also very successful), and a segment that loves to bash their basketball coach (very successful), can't find the energy to drive to New Castle to support their team. I don't write this to bash your team. I loved watching them all three nights. They play physical, unselfish, hardnosed team basketball. They are a joy to watch. Your band and the fans that did show up were into the game. Good for them. I simply believe someone should call things the way they are. Most of the posters on this site have started with I listened to the game, etc. SK has a larger than normal group that like to moan and groan and complain about everything. I am calling you out. Why should we listen to you if you don't care enough to go watch a quality team play their hearts out in a regional championship game? You should be embarassed.

I was very disappointed in the Simon faithful. Your team played like champions, you should be very proud of them. Your coach had a brilliant game plan. Where were your fans? That was the worst crowd for a final I have ever seen. SK did not fill up half of one side in the lower seating. Your team deserved better!

GC is struggling with turnovers,, getting into their offense, and recognizing defenses-all fixable, but it will take some time, this group is behind the curve.

GC is missing Koby Carlton. I think they will be much better later in the year. SK is the better team right now.

I don't see where you disagree with my comments to justify saying I have a lack of knowledge. Certainly, people with football knowledge have moved in, but what resident or alum has the credentials of Coach Siple? None!

Siiple is not the problem. He has proven himself at Highlands and Georgetown as a player and proven himself as a coach at Indian Hills. I believe he was at Bracken County for a short time and their program took an upswing under his leadership. Grant County does not have any local, home grown guys to coach football. It is a relatively new sport to Grant County. As a result, you likely have inferior junior league coaches, an inferior middle school program, your parents did not play, so they can not help at home or in the program. Coach Siple is probably better than you deserve. I would embrace him and let him build a program.

Big win for the cats. Wish I could have seen this game. Was there a good crowd?

Surprised to hear both Latimores played. I had been told the better one was off the team due to discipline.

Nate McCoy had 3 touchdowns for Gallatin. I was real pleased with how Gallatin battled. Harrison was the better team, but GC could have won this game. They had chances in the 4th quarter.
