I coached elementary level for 3 yrs. I have coached aau for 6 yrs. with a record of 331-402 which is about 82 % We have won the state championship back to back and beat 4 teams that finished in the top 10 of the country losing to the national runner ups by 3 I have completed 2 coaching youth courses and am certified by both of those. I am currently working on completing my third coaching course which is through the aau. I am also currently attending night college so i will have the hours to become a "paired professional". I have been in martial arts for 25 years and have been working with and teaching youth for the last 12 years. I am certified through the state of Ky. in the instructor program. I have completed 280 hours of div.1 college coaching clinics and have 1 more scheduled for this yr. I may not be the most qualified person out there but I assure you the ad's i talked with said that was more than enough. I agree with you Praise the Lord!

This is the United States and we as American citizens have the right to mention the name of JESUS if we wish , thanks. 8 of my 9 players have all recieved letters from colleges and they haven't played a day of their sophmore yr. as of yet. My point is if your daughter is out there playing and getting seen their will be scholarships for everyone. doubledeuce, you are exactly right but the two ad's i talked to both wanted someone who could coach and also sub .

3 pt shooter - First off it strikes me odd that you are so offended by others opinions ! Relax, they crucified JESUS and he was perfect!! Regardless if we think you are wrong , you are doing what you think is best for your daughter and that is your job. I am glad to hear that your daughter is getting letters from colleges. That means that your aau coach or your previous high school coach did a good job at getting her seen , being she hasn't played for Nell yet. You are correct , Coach Fookes is a good coach but just anyone could not play for her. I have personally seen her scream and belittle some of these girls and have seen her grab them by the arm and shake them. No coach will ever grab my daughters arm. I am man enough to stand up for my daughter and assure you that will never happen. InDaZone - you obviously don't know me as well as you think you do. I am in no way anti high school ball or anti Fookes. I talked with 2 different athletic directors about coaching high school ball this season and if I were able to also be a sub teacher I would be coaching high school now. My job will not allow me to go teach at the school . I also have no ill feelings towards Coach Fookes . She is a great high school coach but I certainly do not put her up on the pedestal that you put her on. The only one that is worthy of being put on a pedestal is JESUS !! I have sat right behind Nell at several games and I can tell you IMO there are several NKY high school coaches that are equally as good as her. It is also funny to see and hear how these players truly feel about their High school teams and their aau teams. I have read several of the e-mails and texts from some of these players to some of the other girls and it is really sad. Sometimes the parents are doing what they think is best and all they are doing is hurting the kids. This should be a fun enjoyable time for them. In the end , our relationships with our kids is what is important not how many ball games they won.

Old Guy, doesn't basketball IQ equal high school academics ? lol My very good friends daughter has just recieved a full ride to UK for band and academics . There is lots more to scholarships than just basketball. (although i love bball). She does not attend Boone just for clarification. With all of the transfers , the shame is Boone will never get the respect even if they win it all. I kind of feel bad for Coach Fookes. I don't think she wanted to go out with this kind of reputation.

Tough game to predict but I will take the Camels by 7, if they both play the way their capable of, it will be a very close game going down to the wire.

i also agree Southwestern will / should be pretty tough this yr. I believe they should put some pressure on the boys coach Mr. Fothergill to coach the varsity girls !!

I believe Ryle has a very good team. Their running game is solid and their kicking game is phenomenal at that level. Their d is very good as well. I watched the game as well last night and believe the game was more of a 21-7 game. Ryle picked off one (which was in the cc players hand) and ran it all the way in for the td. Ryle also caused two fumbles in which they picked the ball up and ran it all the way in. Not taking anything away from the hits but a team normally doesn't pick the ball up and run it all the way in for three touchdowns. Ryle will be tough to beat and the camels may get there by the end of the season.

IMHO I believe that SK will make it to state this yr. ! LC will still be good but not as good as in the past. BC will be good and with their new transfer they will be hard to beat in the 9th. ND will be tough to beat as well in the 9th. BC is one of the very best in the state as far as having inside play as well as a great point guard!! From what i hear the only reason Coach Fookes is coaching now is to try and win the title with this group over the next couple of yrs. I hope she gets it! LCA will be tough as well, but are in with some very tough teams!! Just an opinion

In Da Zone , if you are familiar with our team than you are probably aware that we went to Nationals with 8 girls and our 6'3 girl didn't go because her high school volleyball coach said she would be kicked off the team if she missed any volleyball the week of nationals. These things do not happen in high school, although I know there are a lot of variables to deal with. BZ and LBC, I agree with you that there are some aau coaches that are in it for the wrong reasons and do mess some things up to a certain degree , but with that said I also know there are several high school coaches that are in it for themselves and political reasons. I know of 6th grade school coaches who teach no fundamentals but had 20 offensive plays and 10 inbounds plays under their own basket. I personally had a couple of players from my aau team who played little or no varsity playing time last season because " they weren't up to that level" but have both received 3 or more letters from division 1 colleges this season. AAU , if done correctly does some great things for these student athletes. In three seperate tournaments this season we had well over 100 college coaches in attendance. Out of our 9 players 6 of them have recieved letters from colleges . We could go on and on and back and forth probably forever but i assure you there are aau teams and coaches out there who are not charging and only have the best interest for the girls at heart. The other thing that I would love to see the high schools do is open up the varsity coaching jobs to qualified people outside of the school systems. IMO Ky is missing out on some very good coaches due to some of the policies. There are some very qualified coaches who would love to coach high school but have other careers. The money for coaching high school should go back into the shool programs IMO . If anyone is coaching high school for the money they are not doing it for the right reasons!!

With all the transfers that Boone gets why haven't they won a state championship? With a great coach and a transfer or two every year it seems as though they should win it . I know some of the girls who have transferred to Boone and it is almost always because of someones job. I guess it is better to be 10 minutes closer to your work. If they ever seperate the public and private schools which side will Boone be on?

LCA has some very good sophmores that will help lead that team this yr. Courtney Clifton is a very good player who has tons of potential !!

I think ND will be fine once the season starts but IMO playing together year round as a team does more harm than good !! I know girls from both teams and a lot of good athletes I wish the best of luck to both teams!

I agree with you that in this area womens basketball is much better than in years past overall. Just between SK and Boone there are 5 girls who played on the same aau team and between SK and ND there are another 5 girls who played on another aau team, both of who were the last 2 years state champions and who are all 9th graders! The high school coaches deserve some credit but the girls deserve the most credit for dedicating themselves to this great sport!! Just between these 3 schools I know 16 girls who play aau there maybe more but the freshmen group are awesome and will continue to bring the level higher the next 3 years!! IMO

Congratulations to Boone!! Great Job Jacy! Shows you were aau ball has brought the high school game, Boone is loaded with aau talent , they will be fun to watch the next 3 yrs.
