Ky High School AAU State Tournament

Featured Replies

Does anyone know who some of the teams are that will be playing in the AAU State tournament 6/9,6/10 and 6/11 at the KBA? Scott County will be there after missing the tournament last year.

Saw some good basketball this weekend in Lexington. Watched an improved Highlands team beat Notre Dame by 20.

I'm sure Highlands has improved some however; NDA has not stopped playing together as a team since the end of the HS season. I've watched them play in a couple of AAU tournaments and they are just absolutely burnt out. I highly doubt you will see the same results between these two teams when it counts.

NDA is not as good as they were last year, but Highlands is certainly not 20pts better than them.

I agree with this they only took a few weeks off after losing to Boone County and they were back at it practicing to get ready for these AAU tournaments. I don't understand why they would attend so many and now they are off to EKU's team camp next week. Hopefully the rest of the summer they get some rest and don't run their legs off before its time to contend for the region.

What was really astonishing about Highlands performance is that three of the six or seven that played the most were 8th graders last year. As for being tired, several of highlands players have played an exhaustive AAU schedule. I will agree that NDA looked pretty tired.

Notre Dame beat Assumption then had to play Highlands 1 1/2 hours later.

It was Highlands first game of the day, because of a team dropping out.

But I think Highlands is better than a lot of people think and will be a strong

contender in the Ninth region.

First off it was only one returning eight grade starter, and one returning freshman starter, so get your facts straight. And shame on you who don't think that just because you don't play as a team for aau that no one else has had tough and hard schudules. Some of the highlands girls have been in tournaments every weekend since high school basketball ended, and the high school aau tournament was their first weekend off of their regular aau team, so again shame on you who do not know your facts.

Like you said some of the Highlands girls not everyone of them like the Pandas. Notre Dame looked tired and exhausted and it was Highlands first game of the day after Notre Dame had just gotten off a big win against Assumption. I'm sure we'll see different results when it comes to the high school season.

First off welcome to BGP.

Who said that because you do not play AAU as a team you had easy

schedules. The point made was that they, NDA, has been playing together

along time, to much time together.

Also, any girl who plays high school basketball these days are also playing AAU,

nothing new there. So your making a point that everyone knows.

But,thank you for pointing out the obvious.:thumb:

Or,better yet keep it secret because maybe girls on other teams might start playing AAU.

Because someone got it wrong on the returning players no need to try and slam them for it. Just correct it. It was not like they were trying to deceive anyone. The guy who got it wrong is a HHS supporter.

With all due respect to those who misunderstood the 8th grade comment. Highlands had three 8th graders soon to be freshman playing for them. (That's factual) This means they will be freshman in the fall. It's true what really counts is what happens in December.

Why in December? Isn't March the time that really matters? But you can tell where these comments are coming from and one is definatly a HHS supporter and parent of one of the eighth graders, or he wouldn't continue to talk about the comment. But anyway, I think that this season will be full of ups and downs, and lots of excitement because I think all the teams in the region have improved and are ready to be number one in the region, and hey its only summer time!

I think ND will be fine once the season starts but IMO playing together year round as a team does more harm than good !!

I know girls from both teams and a lot of good athletes I wish the best of luck to both teams!
