  1. This rule imo is absurd !! After talking with two different Ky commissioners this week I realize how ridiculous it really is. I have been asked in the last 3 weeks by well over 40 d1 coaches where my girls will be playing the September 29-30 event. I have told each of them the KHSAA rule and they are astonished by it. The KHSAA told me this week they give the Ky girls plenty of opportunity and the high school coaches and athletic directors do not want their kids playing after the first day of school. It is not the Khsaa decision but they have to enforce it. Every single college coach i have talked to said this is hurting the Ky girls. No matter how good they are this is one less opportunity for them to be seen and for someone else to catch their attention. To help the Ky girls have the same opportunities as the rest of the country someone needs to step up and revote on this. This should be for the girls not the coaches or athletic directors. They should be allowed to get the exposure and then give 110% to their high school coaches and teams .
  2. I agree with Morgan and Stephanie, both of these girls are very solid ! I am sure we are still forgetting a few. Lots of great talent in the 9th region these days
  3. Conner-Long Boone- Bradley, Behrens Notre Dame- Albanese, Jackson NCC-Cundiff,Sandfoss HHS- Allen Holmes- Weaver There are several girls who I believe could fall into the 7-10 spot. I am sure I am missing someone , these are just the girls I am more familiar with. :ylsuper:
  4. MrCoachKline, thank you very much for your kind words to a great group of young ladies! They are very special in the way they play so unselfish. I have seen a lot of bball and the way these girls play together is unique. 3 pt.- I don't know how well you know the aau rules but unless its an aau tournament your not supposed to post on the aau site. This was a college exposure tournament not even aau related. These girls went representing your wonderful state. I have already recieved numerous e-mails from colleges from this tournament and one of the top 5 D1 schools in the country said " its nice to see girls basketball is alive in Ky" . This group of girls take pride in representing Ky. , before the games they always say lets show them what Ky basketball is all about. They do deserve some recognition and this is one of the places for it. This board is for Ky basketball players not just high school teams. Wltg, I will pass along your congrats to KC. She took a hard elbow to the mouth in the championship game and only played about 2 minutes. I know you will appreciate this we were down to the Finest 26-16 at half and finished 61-49. We missed our first 10 shots to start the game. They will have some new kids by nationals but the 2 new girls they had were pretty good.
  5. SK did beat BC and Shelby back to back. I agree with INDAZONE, their non-conference schedule will be huge for them next season
  6. I agree , LCA should be the team to beat. They will miss Emily, but they are very talented and every girl on the team is playing at a high level this summer. Catholic will be strong as always.
  7. I am certainly not taking anything away from Shelby but in the regional championship game SK didn't play well as far as they go. Tolliver had the first 7 pts and only scored 2 the rest of the game. It was a mental thing between her and the coach but she needs to learn to adjust and I am sure she will. They also lost a very good starter with 8-10 games left, and she should be back as strong as ever next yr. (jmo)
  8. 8th- Simon without a doubt- they lost no starters and only one senior who didn't get much time at all 9th- This region (imho) is wide open- ND and BC lost some very good seniors- I believe this region will be won or lost during the off season. I simply mean that whoevers players do the most work during the offseason will reap the harvest. We all know of players who were really good at a young age and fell off as time went on, and likewise players who really bloomed at an older age. I just believe this region is that wide open. Right now i believe ND should be on the hot seat since they are the champs. 10th- Montgomery with Paris a close second.
  9. Congrats LCA !!! Their starting five has been phenomenal all season long. Clearly the best team in the sweet 16. Great job Courtney and Clara it was nice seeing both of you. Now we have a reason to celebrate next weekend! Congrats to Emily on winning the mvp ! You are my vote for Ms. Ky, Hopefully now you will get some serious looks! Anna and Sara Beth had an excellent tournament as well , enjoy this championship noone can ever take it away from you!!
  10. Great job ladies!! Elite 8! Great job Courtney and Claira! Emily is making a case for Ms Ky!
  11. Congrats to both !! Great job this year Coach T, this is a pretty special being its voted on by your peers.
  12. I agree it should be picked after the season is over for everyone.
  13. imo ND has been more consistent and will pull out a W !!, but at this time of yr. alot of it comes down to how your seniors perform and if your younger players are nervous... I will say if Shelby plays the way they did against SK the other night I don't see anyone beating them. Their 3 seniors who start, all stepped up and did a fantastic job. All 3 of them showed a lot of heart. ND's big girls are very good , and if the guards quit shooting the moon ball they are great outside shooters. (once you start shooting above that perfect arch your percentage really starts dropping). All in all I say ND by 6-8. Good luck girls!!
  14. Yeah I understand how that works, and I agree that Coach D did an excellent job outside of her region. My point is that any team would love to have been in her position with the best two big girls in NKY who are also seniors with lots of experience. IMO she did an excellent job but ND really is where almost everyone expected them to be. There is a fine line of playing too much competition and not enough. I do believe coach Fookes messed up by playing too much competition and Stowers not enough. I will say coach Darpel scheduled the right teams at the right time to get her team peaking when they needed too.
  15. i agree imo Coach Stowers is very deserving of the award! Coach Darpel did a fantastic job as well. My thought is Coach Stowers was 26-3 , started 4 sophmores and a junior, didn't even have a senior who got much playing time, beat BC and Shelby back to back with one of their main starters out for the season, ND had and still has a great season going and i wish them luck throughout the tournament, but imo Coach Darpel has the best two big girls in NKY and both are seniors. If you gave the two big girls to Conner,HHS, BC,NCC ,SK, or Holmes any of them would be in the same position that ND is in now. I am not taking anything away from the other players but those two are very good and have carried the team through some of these games.
  16. IMO if LCA continues to win Emily should get some serious consideration!
  17. Congratulations to LCA!! Its your tournament to lose imo! You have had a great yr. keep it going
  18. LCA has the talent to win the region ,imo they should have beaten catholic all 3 games this yr. I say Scott and LCA championship game
  19. I believe ND has to be the favorite right now to win the region. BC could pull off an upset but that may be a long shot right now. Highlands could sneak in and do ok but I believe they would need BC to win tonight. Conner could win the whole region if they play the way their capable. I seen them smack a couple of really good teams but I have also seen them lose some games that just make you scratch your head. They lost to Holmes earlier in the yr. by 10-12 but beat them a month ago by 30+. They beat BC and Henry Clay. NCC has a realistic shot to make it to the championship game, but I can't see them beating ND,BC, or HHS. THis is a very strange region everyone has beaten everyone it seems. ND is really the only team who has held serve the entire season, but without their head coach ,who knows. Just my opinion good luck to all the girls who have made it this far.
  20. congrats to LCA, I believe you could have won the previous two games against Catholic but now you have that monkey off your back! Continue to play hard and you have a great shot at making the state tournament!
  21. IBall, I don't know if you have viewed the video of the game , but there is a parent on your team who did tape the game and I can tell you that was certainly a dirty, cheap intentional foul. I was not personally at the game but I have watched the tape and I believe a foul where someone just grabs someone from behind and throws them to the floor with no chance to even make a play on the ball deserves at least a 1 game suspension. I have a very good friend who is a ref and I will be putting a copy of this video in his hand and will have it looked into. This type of play can end a girls bball career. I certainly do not believe her coach told her to do this. I believe both sides of the ball , girls and boys alike ,the refs need to get better control.
  22. This is a great question I would love for one of the ND coaches to answer as well. I am assuming that we are talking about the same girl who only gets to play JV. The day ND played Conner this girl had 18pts. in the first JV game and 26 in the second jv game. ND was beating conner by 20+ and she never seen one second of the varsity game. I know almost every single player on the ND team and they are all very good players ,with that being said, this particular girl should at least be the 2nd player off the bench. ????
  23. welovethisgame, I hear what you are saying , I didn't mean to sound like ND was walking thru every team. I was at the BC/ND game and both of those games could have went either way. BC could certainly win the 9th region. I also believe Conner and NCC could easily pull off an upset come tournament time. My point is I believe SK and ND are playing the best bball right now and I would like to see a rematch. I also agree with INDAZone, Coach Stowers is doing an excellent job! I also agree that Smith doesn't get the recognition she deserves. For those of us who know her the best , we can tell you she isn't playing her best ball, but she is playing very well. At Div.1 aau nationals Smith averaged a double-double while playing against NY Silver Bullets, Arkansas Mavericks, Ga. Panthers, Indianas Finest (the team that finished 5th). For the aau season about 70 games she was one point per game from averaging a double-double for the entire season! The girl can play! Keep up the good work Smith! Smith also has recieved 4 letters from D1 schools that I personally know of. I believe with Figs out Smith will have to be more utilized and she will really begin to shine now
  24. Great game by both teams! Tolliver had 23 for SK Coach Stowers is doing an excellent job with the team! He certainly has them playing their best ball at the right time! 16-2 with back to back wins over quality teams. After beating BC the way they did I would like to see them play ND again! ND is definitely the team to beat the way they are walking through teams. Great job SK and great job to Coach Stowers!!
