Any word on if Behrens is eligible and practicing at Boone yet?

Might as well put Boone's name on the regional championships trophy.

Loaded with talent, as well as having the best coach in the region.

It will now be just a matter of playing out the season to see who finishes 2nd.

While there's always a chance, its hard to argue the above.

Boone would have been favorite w/the team that was coming back. W/the addition of Katie that just re-enforces the idea. They still have to play every game and on any given night everyone knows what could happen, NOT.

 

If Boone's trainer keeps them healthy, they should be ready to rock and roll come dist/regional tournament. W/getting state experience last yr, if they make it, should help them tremendously and make a great showing for the 9th Region.

I might have missed a few others but when you have top players tranferring to Boone, it makes the playing field just a bit more lopsided. Guess the wheel at Boone will keep on turning. The only thing in question at this point is who will transfer next year.

Note, I will never ever be upset by a family for moving their child to where they think the child will be best suited to go to school, however each one of these transfers was done for one reason and one reason only, Basketball. Again I have no trouble with it, it is what the parents and the child wants. Yes, NDA does have transfers but no one, and I mean no one, can say that Boone County gives it's students the same education that NDA does. From what I can see from the research that I have done, Boone County High School is the lowest academic school of all the Boone County High Schools (other Boone County schools Ryle and Conner). So if it's a basketball education you want for your child, then Boone County is the place to go to school at........ Again I have no problem with it at all.....

My very good friends daughter has just recieved a full ride to UK for band and academics . There is lots more to scholarships than just basketball. (although i love bball). She does not attend Boone just for clarification.

 

With all of the transfers , the shame is Boone will never get the respect even if they win it all. I kind of feel bad for Coach Fookes. I don't think she wanted to go out with this kind of reputation.

Since Nell is a very good friend of mine, I would like to know "what kind of reputation she is going out with?" It is a shame that because someone is a great coach and a great builder of character that they get blamed for things they have nothing to do with.

 

It is not Nell's fault that players and parents want their daughter to play for her. I am sure there are a lot of players who would love to play at Boone but could not deal w/Nell's type of coaching. This is the United States and we as American citizens have the right to send our kids where we see fit and if it is Boone to play bball, Highlands to play football or NDA/St Henry to play volleyball so be it. That is the families business as long as things are done properly and by the rules, go for it.

 

If a kid wants to transfer and it is done right, so be it. The school they are transferring from, let them go and don't raise any cane obviously they are not happy at your school. They are kids let them go where they think they will be happy.

 

I think Boone already has respect throughout the state and NKY. By the way, my daughter is one of the transfers and I feel no shame for moving to Florence for my daughter to be successful by playing bball and she is getting an education because I am making sure of that.

3ptshooter...you are wasting your breath on here so leave it alone. Lexcath and SC have won with a ton of transfers, but rarely any negatives are said about it. My daughter played with Laura Terry over the summer and she was a wonderful young lady; however, Never one negative mention about the fact she lives in Ohio.

 

CoachK: you are completely anti-highschool and anti-Fookes so anything you say about it must be taken acccordingly.

Wow these are pretty bold comments. I actually saw several of Boone County's players play this summer. I dont think I would start painting the town red just yet. A bunch of OJ Mayo's they are not. Your comments are more applicable to a Scott County or Lexington Catholic who I also saw play this summer. I'm sure Boone will have a very good team, but to dominate in the manner you indicate is unlikely.

Just like I don't think Dale minds, and I don't think Mike Y. minded, I doubt Coach Fookes cares. She plays with who shows up.
