  1. I would expect a lead Assistant in a successful program to be in the running for this job.
  2. I can not understand why a high profile program like Clay County basketball would be dragging their feet on a coaching position. They must already have someone in mind or they are wanting to give Coach Combs a chance to prove his worth. A few years ago Clay would have been selecting a coach not recruiting one as it seems now. What is the holdup?
  3. I doubt it. Neither played any varsity basketball and Corbin rarely protests any transfers. Bargo has been at North Laurel, Madison Southern, Corbin and now Whitley so it appears he enjoys moving around often. Hopefully he will settle in and stay put for the remainder of his playing days.
  4. Hard to say who would be the starters right now. I think Coach Pietrowski uses the summer the build depth and is not overly concerned with wins and losses. He usually tries to play alot of kids and search for strengths and weaknesses which can be improved when practice begins in late fall. Right now about 10 kids are in the mix for varsity time. Josh Crawford, Josh Hamlin, Deke Barley, Josh Smith, Aaron Manns, Madison Johnson, Issac Wilson, Devin Rogers, Clayton Sewell and Lee Crawford would appear to be the front runners for the varsity squad. Several players are involved with summer baseball and football like Clint Cashen and will be joining the team once the season begins. How is Whitley doing? I know Kris Craig and Greg Bargo are now playing with the Colonels.
  5. What about Kevin Spurlock? I thought his name had been thrown around. I can not see Donnie Butcher leaving Cumberland College to take the Clay County job, but stranger things have happened. I would say Randy McCoy would be the front runner based on the names you mentioned.
  6. I think there is an opening for an assistant Coach at Corbin high school for the upcoming season. Not sure which one is not coming back or if they are just adding another position. Coach Adams would certainly be a nice addition if he choose to apply.
  7. Word on the street is that the Head Coaching Position at Williamsburg has been offered to Jerry" Flounder " Herron. Herron was a star lineman at WHS in the late 80's for Coach Robert T. Rose and later went on to play at Tennessee Tech. If the rumors prove to be true, good luck to Coach Herron.
  8. Maybe it is not rumor this time around. I think the AD position not becoming open at WCHS made the decision a little bit easier for Mr.Gentry to gallop off to Georgia. Only in house name the Jackets will consider is Woods. I am not so sure he would be interested. They other assistants would all be interested, I am sure. Should be an interesting job for some Coach. Good luck Jackets.
  9. Jim Black should be announced as the new Colonel Leader on Tuesday at noon.
  10. Good question. Might see Mike Campbell make a return to the sidelines. His district would certainly be more attainable at Wburg. He is a disciple of Bob Rose. With an Adminstrative position looming in the Alternative Center it might just happen. Talk about a strange turn of events.
  11. Sources close to the situation report Williamsburg Coach Jim Black will be returning back to Whitley County to be the head coach of the Colonels next season. Good luck Coach Black and thanks for all you did in Jacket Land if this is indeed true. :thumb:
  12. Jim Black will be the next head football coach at Whitley County....mark it down. Good luck Coach Black and welcome home.:dancingpa
  13. Maybe Rick Parsons will take over as Boys coach. He is really fun to watch Coach....I recall him using some great key phrases when he coached at Evarts...I was sitting behind his bench one night and he was playing a 2 -3 zone defense, when he wanted to trap the basketball out of it he would starting stomping his feet and yell " Momma's in the House, Momma's in the House ".....he was always entertaining to watch roam the sidelines.
  14. What did Grey say were the reasons he wanted to get out after such a nice season? I know the Tigers will be down next season, but I am sure they will still be very good and competitive with most teams in the region. Something is really unusual about this situation. I am sure as time passes things will become more apparent.
  15. That is a strange turn of events. Clay is a high pressure position, but Coach Grey seemed to be handling things pretty well......Todd Messer is one name that will be sure to pop up as a potential replacement.
  16. Congratulations to Ryan Swim.. A very nice kid who will be a nice addition to the Bulldog program... Is he another JV player like Joe Siler? Coach Combs is really bringing in a lot of players this season..Dunnaway is a steal for the Bulldogs and the big Miller kid will also help the team. Kudos for allowing local in state players the chance to play at the next level. With so many local players the attendance at Bulldog games should be improved.
  17. Tough district and tough region..you win either of those and you are a threat to win the big show at Rupp.....I doubt they will place the reigns in the hands of anyone without experience....should be a lot of interest in this job. Whoever takes it will enjoy the battles with Scott Co and Station. Good luck Coach Chiles.
  18. Joe seems to enjoy using Pistol Pete like moves at all times......he could be one of those little ballhandling wizards that do halftime shows at the college and NBA games....he likes to go behind the back, between the legs and crossover before making an entry pass to start the offense....smaller and not as good version of Jason "White Chocolate" Williams...if you catch my drift.
  19. Coach Pennington keeps this up and he will be the next Principal or Supt .... I forgot both Siler and Dixon both played only one year at LC......at any rate good luck to both..
  20. Wow, Congrats to the "Show" . Looks like Coach Combs has signed a wide range of talents for the Bulldog program. Dunaway and now Siler. Best of Luck.
  21. Powell is one of the biggest schools in the 14th and should be competitive each season. Of course Whitley County is one of the biggest in the 13th and we all know how well they have fared over the past 25 years. lol
  22. Why would Hayes want to come back and Coach there? The man has to endured alot already and has friends across the state where he can find another position.
  23. Daniel Brown is a good coach. I can not see him leaving Bourbon for Fleming....he is turning into a nomad.
  24. You are on the right track Mutt. I think the young energetic Head Coach is a good call. Look for the Jackets to win 10 games next year and give your Colonels a run for the number 3 seed in the 50th district. The key will be to tap into some of the athletes from the football team. If Frazier, Jeffries and Hamblin play the Orange and White will be much improved. Good Luck to the new Jacket leader. :thumb:
  25. Maybe the Jackets have found someone that is a better fit for their situation. I would think they want someone who will be willing to stay for a while and develop their young talent. I look for the Jackets to be much improved next season. Summer camp and off season programs have been missing from the basketball team for the last few seasons. With these things in place, the team will perform much better when the season rolls around. Rick Jones would be an excellant coach in JacketLand.
