Any word yet on who will get this job?

No word yet. Seems like they're dragging their feet to me. I think 9 coaches applied and they may be down to 2 or 3. I don't understand the stall though, maybe they want some more to choose from. I honestly don't think they will get any more applicants so it makes no sense to me. Rumor is they don't want a young coach, would rather have a seasoned one. Here are some names thats been thrown around. 1. Randy McCoy 2. Jerry Combs 3. Woods (Wayne Co.) 4. Toby Curry 5. Todd Messer 6. Butcher (Cumberland Col.) 7. Greg Parrott (Now at Owsley) Some guy from Tenn and one or two more I can't think of right now. Clay will be naming three new head coaches this summer, Boys BKB, Boys BB, Girls BKB. Maybe they won't name them till next summer, who knows??

What about Kevin Spurlock? I thought his name had been thrown around. I can not see Donnie Butcher leaving Cumberland College to take the Clay County job, but stranger things have happened. I would say Randy McCoy would be the front runner based on the names you mentioned.

Curry has done an excellent job at Green in his second year there he won the district.

Todd Messer would be a good hire, he did very well with what he had at Fleming Co.

I believe that Jerry Combs would be an excellent candidant for this position. As interim coach, he has the boys working hard and playing well. Coach Combs has the drive and stamina to develop a program that would rebuild the program to the days of GLORY!

I would have to agree they have a good summer ball team

I can not understand why a high profile program like Clay County basketball would be dragging their feet on a coaching position. They must already have someone in mind or they are wanting to give Coach Combs a chance to prove his worth. A few years ago Clay would have been selecting a coach not recruiting one as it seems now. What is the holdup?

Some say they're scrounging around trying to come up with salary dollars for one of the applicants. I hope that's not true. If the BOE can't afford him now, we don't need him! I don't have a clue as to who it will be...I wonder if anybody in Clay County has a clue????

HaHa. I agree with you. If Clay County pays him that much, Doug Adams should be fired. LoL. That would be ridicilous to pay someone that much.

I've heard Spurlock's name mentioned, I'm just not sure if he officially applied. If he has applied, I think he would make us good one.:thumb:

Which applicant is asking for the big salary?

My guess is a certain 12th region coach.
