New Whitley County coach...
You are correct Wizard. He did put alot of things in for Coach Guffy then when things got tough......well you get the picture. Anderson thinks Deaton hung the moon and he is one of the big reasons the Colonels went in that direction. The go together like peas and carrots.....
-
New Whitley County coach...
Williard Farris or Brandon Anderson ....depends on who you listen too... or is it Donnie Haynes....then the Colonels would decide to not play anyone in the region and play a 7 game series with Jellico and Oneida, Tn.....lol Anderson will be a state employee and be the lead assistant .....you heard it here first...this is old news....

Corbin in 06'???
Crawford will not be playing football for the Hounds....get over it and prepare the ones you have to represent the school the best they can....sometimes kids just want to work in one sport.....be it good or bad....that is the facts..... he is one of those that knows he can write his ticket playing basketball....so why risk the injury....ie Isacc Mills and many others.

New Whitley County coach...
Thanks Apex.....I guess we can share some room at the top....hehe....Mastermind and Apex at the pinnacle calling the shots......

Barbourville 63 Clay County 54
NO they made it this far in 1975 when Coach Phipps played and were defeated by Clay......I would expect South to beat them badly....nothing wrong with being second best in the 13th this season.

New Whitley County coach...
Coach Deaton will solve all those problems once he takes control of things. He is not one to be led around by any parents or fans. If they let him do his job he will produce a winner in a short time.

New Whitley County coach...
Would it be bad to be a newly hired administrator and not have your children enrolled in the school system? Not in my opinion, if they live with their mother in another town it is not an issue. I think alot of Coaches let their children finish school in locations other than where they are coaching....Good Luck to Coach Deaton, he has won at every stop.

New Whitley County coach...
I would hope that Coach Guffy was not simply told over the phone that he was being replaced. I can not see any school offical doing something like that. Good Luck to Coach Guffy I am sure you will be in a better situation in a short time.

New Whitley County coach...
I knew it was going to happen just did not know the time it would be announced. I had not seen anything in the local papers to support the rumors. The new blood should be good for the Jackets. I hope they can get their basketball as competitive as the football program. I think the Williamsburg administration will do a statewide search and take their time selecting the new Coach. Seems like Whitley had a new Coach before the last season was even finished.

New Whitley County coach...
That sounds like it would be a big mess. I can not imagine trying to balance all the schedules if that were indeed the case....looks like the 50th District will have alot of new faces next season. When does Williamsburg announce their changes?
-
New Whitley County coach...
Whitley has had a lot of Coaches in the past 30 years.....Hodges, Haynes,Perkins, Croley, Davenport, Voight,Prewitt, Maxey, Combs, Evans, Guffy and now the new one... I give him the average three seasons and then he will move on as well.

Clay 58 Corbin 49
I think it was a pretty even trade between the 13th and the 15th both have their traditions of excellence on the court. If the 13th was going to trade with the 15th then this was a good year to do so. With South being the heavy favorite " the breaks" should not decide the champion. Hopefully next year we can get the 12th or the 5th region to come to the region tournament in Corbin. I have always been impressed with the quality of both those regions officals.

Clay 58 Corbin 49
19-4 enough said...guys you can get handchecked and fouled 8 to 12 feet from the basket same as you can from 50 feet or 2 feet. Good Luck Barbourville on Friday night.

How were the 13th region officals last night?

13th Region Tournament Host
Should be a better crowd this evening. I would get there early if I wanted to avoid the Big Blue Nation from Barbourville. I hear they are closing the town at 4:00 today so that everyone can caravan over to the house that Keith built. I agree too much time between games....I would think 30 minutes to empty a gym would be plenty......plus 8:45 is hard on the travelling teams and us old folks who have to work in the morning.

Congrats to the Cards on the win. I would also like to say Great Season to the Wildcats. Coach Pennington has done a great job this season. Best of luck in the upcoming years.

13th Region Pairings
Ok 14..... You love to debate things...... Have you ever heard of matchups? Some teams simply play better against certain others due to the make up of their respective team.........you can not say because team A beats team B, that Team A would beat team C who lost to team B........ South is the best...we all agree with you there. After that Clay because they are good and playing at home....other than LC being 8 due to inconsistency..... I think we could make a case for any of the other being 3 thru 7....matchups are the key....let's hope when this settles the teams that earn it this week....those that are playing the best basketball right now...get to play for all the marbles. Give us fans a break and let us support our hopes that South can be beaten....kinda like UK beating Florida, LSU, Tennessee,Alabama, Auburn, Louisville in football.... we have to believe to keep our hopes up...

Is Haynes out at Williamsburg?
I doubt anyone has been promised the position since it has not even been offically listed on the KHSAA website as of yet. Mr. Overbey is a fine AAU and little league coach, but my gut instinct says the Jacket Administration is serious about rebuilding the program and will not take any chances or cut any corners this time around. I look for them to put the job out there and see what kind of applicants they get, then hire the best person for the job.
