Jim Schue Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Didn't see a game thread on this one, so I figured I'd start one. Really though, there's not much to say about it. South rolled out to a 20-5 lead, then piled on with a 23-2 run that made it 45-12 at the 4:21 mark of the second quarter. Lynn Camp made a mild rally against the SL subs to get it down to the final margin. I think 39 was SL's biggest lead. While no one in the SL camp would admit it, I think this game was as much to send a message to the rest of the teams as anything.
gooseman Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 your probally right though Jim. I must say though I had not seen South this year and they sorda just blew my mind. For any team to get close to them it will take a HECK of a effort, I personally think Clay would have the best chance of pulling the upset. I know ill be pulling for North Friday night..

I don't blame you one bit. And with Clay, should they get to a region final and meet up with SL, I can see them having all kinds of problems. SL is a bad matchup for Clay because of Clay's shaky ballhandling. They had trouble against North's pressure, and North's pressure is a few notches below SL because of SL's big guards on the traps and how well their back line players rotate to pick off errant passes.
HDE Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Hammonds was impressive — 10-15 (5 of 8 on 3s) — 28 points.
Big Game Player Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 South advances, ther're ome step closer to another state title. Congrats South on advancing and not being upset by the underdog(which is pretty much everyone they play in the state)
gooseman Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I dont know about everyone they play, because a few KY teams have beat them. Yeah that is true about the ball handling and Clay, I personally think Lewis the freshmen is our best guy to get the ball up the court but he is going to be no match up to guys like Proffit...Gosh and all South guys are Big Boys..they just look like a college team.

Does South Laurel press? If so, what type?
ukbellco14 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Hammonds was impressive — 10-15 (5 of 8 on 3s) — 28 points. When SL is shooting like this NO ONE in this region can beat them. It will take a terrible shooting night (sorta like against Boyle Co.), coupled with a great shooting night for the opposing team (sorta like agsint Boyle Co.) for any team to beat SL.
4chs Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Hammonds was impressive — 10-15 (5 of 8 on 3s) — 28 points. From the games that I have seen, Hammonds is the best player in the region.
ukbellco14 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 From the games that I have seen, Hammonds is the best player in the region. When he is hot. When he isnt hot he can sometimes hurt SL by taking some selfish, ill advised shots.

South led by as much as 41 points when I was listening early in the 3rd quarter and seemed to call off the dogs after that point.
Mastermind Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Congrats to the Cards on the win. I would also like to say Great Season to the Wildcats. Coach Pennington has done a great job this season. Best of luck in the upcoming years.
LC99 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 I was proud of the effort of Lynn Camp. LC played hard for 4 quarter against one of the state's best. Early in the game it looked LC was very nervous against South, and didn't settle down until the second half. I thought they played a good 3rd quarter against South's starters. In the first half LC struggled with the press, and I wouldn't be surprised if South didn't run 5 offensive sets in the first half. Most points came off of run outs. Allan and Hammonds had a monster game for South. LC was also killed on rebounds. A lot of LC possessions were one and done. Good learning experince for the Wildcats, and hopefully the program will continue to grow.

SLINK Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Doesn't surprise me. SL is heads and shoulders above everybody in the 13th.:thumb:
