  1. Glad to hear that they did not rush the search. I think the decision makers have handled this situation very well. I look for the Jackets to have a Hard- working, young and energetic Coach in place within the next two weeks. :dancingpa
  2. You might check with the KHSAA office and see if they can get you a list. I just happened to luck across it. UK athletics might also have something to share with you. If you could get a UK media guide I am sure they would have all their music listed in the credits.
  3. The Verve Title: Bitter Sweet Symphony Hope that Helps
  4. What is the latest on this job? I would assume Coach Hicks is just wanting a change of scenery and Williamsburg will be the big challenge his is looking for. Given enough time and energy he can have the Jackets competitive with the smaller schools in the region in a couple of seasons...Who knows he may sneak up on the super power every three to five years as well.. at any rate it will be a big challenge for him if he is indeed the chosen one. Something tells me there is still a name or two that may apply before everything is decided. Guess we will all have to wait and see what happens.
  5. Not hostile just saying if you do not know the facts then walk lightly...I can explain them to you in private if you want to know more.....I agree this adminstration is working hard to get the best person in place for the job.
  6. You keep believing what you wish Fundamental, but you are obviously unaware of some the controversal hires by past administrators. If you do not understand the sins of the past please do not make inferences to them. Seems like everyone is on the same page and want to hire the best Coach possible this time around. Now is that Coach gonna be Hicks, Coldiron, Rick Jones or someone to be named later.
  7. Heard ColdIron had put his name in for the Wburg job?
  8. Hicks appears to be the front runner as of now. I think there might be some late arriving applicants that might give him a run for his money. I think it is too early to say he has the job sewed up. Seems like the interest level has risen on this job the past week. Big movements going on behind the scenes that might shock most of the basketball world. Hats off to the Jacket Administration expecially Mr. Byrd and Mr. Peters for doing this the right way. I hope they land the best Coach after the interviews are completed. :thumb:
  9. No doubt.... both are former Coaches who know what it takes to win at Williamsburg. I think both know what the community expects and what qualities and personal traits the new coach will need to be successful. I think the only holdup will be the resources that they can offer the right person. If they are allowed to create or establish the right position then it will be a good hire. If they have to hire with the openings the have presently then it might limit their ability to find the best person.
  10. That is what I have been hearing as well. I think Hicks would be a good choice if he decides to take the position. I can not see Prewitt talking to anyone until they approach him. Williamsburg will have to do most of the courting to get any established Coach. I would not expect people with experience to be knocking the doors down at 1000 Main. The Adminstration has an opportunity to turn things around with a good selection. Best of luck to the Jackets as they attempt to restore their basketball program.
  11. Makes sense to me....keep digging and you will get to the bottom of it..:fight:
  12. Donnie McFarland is an assistant Coach at Northern Kentucky University presently, I think his son is a member of the team as well.... and is a Principal at Boone County, so I doubt he would be interested.
  13. Ok Mutt....are you saying now that Coach Prewitt is the leading person for the job? ....I know earlier it was Overbey, then Guffy and now Prewitt......so who is it gonna be? I think your inside sources maybe just guessing names and saying they are the chosen one. You make some very good points and address some common myths about Whitley and Williamsburg....Urban legend has it..... a stranger will come riding in from the open range and re-store the pride, dignity and tradition back to the YellowJacket Bball program....but who will it be?:sssh:
  14. The name I keep hearing is Jim Bob Hicks. I would not be surprised to see him scoping out the scene in Orange and White land in the next few days. Again these are rumors, but my sources in the Burg say he is the chosen one by the Supt.
  15. Walt is a first class kinda kid. He is the best diplomat to come out of this area in several seasons....:thumb:
  16. Congratulations and good luck to Mr. Miller
  17. I would agree with that statement. The new 50th district will have some wars on the horizen with all the talented players and Coaches working to beat each other up....should make for some great games for us fans.
  18. Cool....Nashville is an addictive town......amazing the things you hear when you just listen....peace, love and e-mail.....lol three best things in life.....
  19. Jay Lunce is enjoying the sun and sand too much to put himself in the Williamsburg job right now...you are right I do know more about his situation than you do Fever.....lol....How is football looking? Is Woods going to Coach? I heard he was suffering from SEC fever....lol
  20. Both schools have a way to go athletically....but this is a coaching thread....who does the Jacket community want?......was Haynes done an injustice?....will Mad Maxey get some consideration for the job? ...why are the Connell's especially...... Paula lobbying for Overbey so hard? Houndreds of questions..... Help us out Fever...you know the inside scoop.
  21. If he is getting paid per win then those are costly indeed......big salary and will be expected to produce results...
  22. Deaton will be full of surprises for the Colonels....and their fans....never one to let things get boring or routine...he is always looking for something new and exciting....I am sure he will thrill the Colonel faithful to no end......great Coach and great person.....I am sure he will have a few surprises up his sleeves.....lol
  23. 1. Either of the Vernon's would be the best Coach for the Burg. But they are too smart to put themselves in that situation. 2. Kenny might bite, but too much history. 3. Guffy is the most likely person to be wearing Orange and White if he is not helping Cumberland College next season. 4. West will not go back, he forgives but he has not forgotten....Wburg messed up when some ran him out of town. Young coach who would have stayed his whole career. 5. Prewitt..... see West above...first great Coach the Burg ran off because he played to win...makes too much money out at Whitley and his wife will not let him return. 6. Evans will stay in the Knox area.....he has too many connections 7. The Silent Cow will stay with the ladies side of the court. 8. Croley is way out there, a blast from the past.....might as well throw in LeForce, Danny Johnson,Jake Mountjoy, Billy Conn, Donnie Witt, Alvin Evans and Loren Connell as potentials....lol....good list Mutt...you know your Williamsburg hoops well.
  24. I doubt the Supt at Wburg would like being the second highest paid employee....$85,000 is about twice what the position will pay....this is a marry for love job.....
  25. Sounds like Young Mister Hicks is in high demand up at the state tourney....He maybe headed to Flemingsburg not Williamsburg...
