Mastermind Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Rumor has it the Jacket Administration has made a decision to change their head boys basketball coach. I was wondering if this was true or simply a rumor?
LC99 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 If he is out, who will get the job. Will they go after that one coach (Can't think of his name off the top of my head) from Florida that brought his team up for the CFIT?
Les Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I can't confirm this, I have been told that it is true....but need more sources. The one name I have heard to replace him has only two years of varsity head coaching experience.
nWo Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Thanks Les, let us know when you find something definite.
Mastermind Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 I think there will be several changes within the 13th region in the next few months. Seems to be alot of jockeying for position.

SouthernCross Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Jay Lunce, I doubt he would leave the sunny South. My sources agree with what Mastermind heard, Haynes is out...
Mastermind Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 Sounds like a good opportunity for a young coach. A good facility and a strong academic program. They have produced alot of coaches over the years that have went on to pretty good careers..Williard Farris, Rich Prewitt, Alan Leforce..not a bad place to Coach.

Don't leave out Brent West, he had a good run down there. Paul Falin had a few good teams. Maybe there is somebody out there that can get it turned around at Wburg.
Mastermind Posted March 5, 2006 Author Posted March 5, 2006 From the returning players I saw this season I would think brighter days are on the horizen for the Jackets. A lot of young players who played their hearts out against South Laurel in the district. I agree, given a little time and some hard work the Jackets can again be a threat in the All A and progress to where they can play competitively against the bigger region schools.
Deuce41 Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 From sources inside Williamsburg...Haynes and his running buddy Maxey are out. No doubt. Rumored replacements........ Coach K Jerry Overby Tubby Smith Rich Prewitt Bruce Pearl Darrell Guffey Adolph Rupp (I know he is dead) Mark or Brent Vernon I think that they all fall in the same catagory.....it ain't gonna happen.

I expect Williamsburg to get a pretty good coach. They have a very good school system and good fan support, so don't be surprised if someone unexpected(who is not afraid of a big challenge) takes the job.
