One of the issues out there is that teams have moved to a Pitino mindset from when he was at UK. Foul, foul and foul because the officials will quit calling all of them a foul. Thus, I believe the game is more physical and less fouls are called that are fouls because the officials don't want to call all of them and have a parade to the free throw line. And the parents/fans would be less critical from the stands if more fouls that are fouls are being called.

Counting on rainouts to cancel a bunch of them.

I understand that but the parent won their court case over fast pitch softball because their daughter was missing out on college scholarships because KY played slow pitch. Say what you want, but I am pretty sure that is how the court case worked out and lead to fast pitch in KY. It may be a privilege but the courts sided with the parents in that case.

Having seen the quality of officiating in the regions surrounding the 10th region, the ONLY region I would want to switch officials with, would be the 11th.:thumb::sssh::cool:

Not sure about that as the softball lawsuit/political push was based on the loss of potential scholarships. There are numerous top finishers in the state tournament as well as winning state tournaments by middle school students. The argument could be made that they are losing out on exposure/experience by them not being allowed to compete against in the state tournament as other middle schoolers in other districts are allowed. Also, remember that KY education was changed via lawsuit because students in one district was seen as receiving a better education than a student in another KY district. A good lawyer could push a similar argument ESPECIALLY in those sports that opportunities are majorly different for middle school athletes in other districts. Golf would be a good example. How is Jefferson County going to set up a golf league that gives a MSer the same experience that they could have playing varsity and in the state tournament?

There are games that a team hits the bonus in the 1st quarter and the 2nd quarter becomes a parade to the free throw line and makes for a looonnnnggg quarter.

Was wondering what it would be like for high school basketball is the team foul situation changed to mirror NBA. Instead of fouls carrying over through a full half and seeing multiple free throws in a 2nd quarter, you could say each team gets 4 fouls each quarter and 1 and 1 begins on 5th foul. Double bonus could begin on the 7th foul or so.

Heck, maybe Maysville can host the Sweet 16?

Nope. And to go one further I believe it is illegal for a boys' coach to take the girls' team and vice versa

As he gets older and naturally stronger and his body gets wider and stronger, he will be very, very tough. He went where he wanted to go in that game on skills. When he gets naturally stronger, he will go where he wants to go both physically and skill wise. That will be one tough player.

Why is it some fans/parents think that their yelling and screaming and showing themselves to be a horse's patootie is more important than the game?

Really, than why is Walton Verona included in the rankings when they are not a NKAC or 9th region school but are in Boone/Kenton whichever they are in.

Because NKY looks at the 10th Region as not part of them. The papers won't include teams outside of Kenton, Campbell, and Boone in the coaches polls for ranking of teams even though those same newspapers run subscription routes in those counties.

I can totally understand the NKY teams not appreciating or getting the Fieldhouse mystic. But if you are from a school that has long been in the 10th Region, there is no other place for the 10th Region to be than in the Fieldhouse. I am sure when the new Louisville arena is built, they will push for the state tournament and it will be held in Louisville. It will be a good tournament and those kids who get to play in it will always have a great memory. BUT, it will not be the same as walking onto the floor of Rupp Arena. Just won't and no matter what Louisville does, it will miss the mystic of walking onto the floor of Rupp like Goose Givens did, Kyle Macy touched his socks, Sky Walker dominated, Rex soared, Pitino coached, etc, etc. Same as no matter what Montgomery Co and BOK does, it cannot match the pure mystic of the Fieldhouse for those schools that have been in the 10th for a long, long time.

Not sure that is accurate for Pendleton. Coach Simms told me he emailed Mason early in the week and indicated no change would be made.

More of a problem than the BBA and the officials is the ignorance and stupidity of the parents/fans yelling either at officials or at their own coaches.

Been involved in basketball in the coaching ranks for 20 of my 21 years in the coaching business. Two of the 3 you mention, I always ranked in the top 10 with Gary Wilson either being #1 or #2. I would have no problem with that crew calling any of my games.

Pendleton coach requested a change and was DENIED by the tournament director.

Pendleton's coach requested that the student body behind the bench be changed on Tuesday. The mason co tournament director refused.

I have longed held that the best place for the 10th Region tournament was at the Fieldhouse. But seeing their actions and obvious poor management of student body's, I disagree. Their continually putting the other team's student body behind the home team's bench EVEN WITH REQUESTS from the HOME COACH to change it, is ridiculous. To see Mason County's bench a foot behind Pendleton and GRC (I am assuming that will continue tonight) is ridiculous. And when it is requested to be changed and they say "We have to do what is best for both teams" and then refuse to make that change, well I am dumbfounded. I did hold Mason in high regard but that has been sullied with the obvious and what seems to be intentional advantage they are creating for their boys' team. With the decision they made in this regards, they don't deserve to host it unless their district decides to host it there.
