The Lady Owls defeated the Lady Pirates at Stanton tonight by 13 points. Junior Mika Turner scored 27 points and Freshman Peyton Wright scored 25 points. Congratulations to the Lady Owls.

The Lady Owls of Owsley County played their second game of the season and their first home game tonight in an impressive way by defeating Buckhorn by 22 points. Leading the scoring for the Lady Owls was freshman Peyton Wright with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. 11th grader Mika Turner was second in scoring with 21 points; and impressive 15 rebounds and 3 assists.

I listened to the game and it sounded like they played really hard. It's always a great to win on the road, especially when you are playing out of region. Congrats Owls!!!! Way to start out the season.

I listened to the second half. The Lady Owls did have a 12 or 13 point lead in the first half. The announcers said that the Wolfe coaching staff saw a weakness in free throw shooting in the first half and used that in the second. The Lady Owls did seem to shoot alot of free throws, hitting very few. Congrats to the Lady Owls on their first game,a nd win of the 2008-2009 season.

I don't, no matter how small the school is, ever think a Coach should be an AD also. There are to many times that games will conflict and they cannot be in two places at once. As a Coach/AD, I think most people will either give breaks to their team or be unfair to their team by overly showing favoritism to the other to look fair.

Dannel Marshall is a senior and will help the team alot. Look for Sheri to be playing. They have put off the surgery on her knee and ordered her a special brace, the same type of brace that Sarah Elliott wore throughout her career at UK and played extremely well with, so don' t cut Sheri out yet. I agree professor that the Lady Owls are a little under the radar and it is great, maybe no one will be expecting them.... I am not going to hurt anyone's feelings and say who is over rated (the players of the teams read this), but I also agree with the post that Powell is underrated. I think they have a good solid team to begin the season this year.

Yes they do. Owsley, Powell, Cordia and Magoffin Counties are playing in the PRTC Classic Panorama. PRTC has sponsored this for several years now.

This Friday, November 14 is Owsley County Owls/Lady Owls Maroon/White Night to showcase the academics and athletes. It begins at 5pm with the elementary school.

In my opinion, they are better than 4-5 teams listed in the top ten...but that's just my opinion.

I don't recall saying anything about Owsley. I just ask a question about how many times they get it right.
