I really don't understand this. I mean really ... come on guys, it could've been better than this! :mad:

I thought it was commonplace to have boys and girls participating at different sites. I guess the issue is that it's a little tough to see every minute of every game for those who want to watch boys and girls. At least Clark and Montgomery aren't too far apart.

True but the thing that they could have at least done if they wanted to have two gyms host the tournament is to have the boys play both games on one night and the girls do the same. If Montgomery County's gym is going to be big enough to host the 10th Region tournament the following week, then it should be able to host the district tournament first round games on the same night.

 

When I was at Rockcastle County, the district rotated between the schools like it's supposed to and when it came time for Oneida Baptist to host, they'd have a boys game on Monday, a boys game on Tuesday, both girls games on Wednesday, the boys final on Thursday, and the girls final on Friday. If the 40th District officials wanted to have the boys first round games on separate, then the format I just mentioned would be the better way to go than what they've decided for this year.

I wonder if they even thought about the fans, radio, or bands. This was done all wrong. Yes, Clark and Montgoemry are not too far apart if you lived in Clark or Montgomery. A lot of us don't! :thumb: And what about the fans who will be paying at two different sites on the same night. This was wrong ... all wrong! Somone who made this decision, needs to come on here and give the reason(s) why.

At this point, unless someone offers a good explanation for this scheduling, this has to be the most crazy thing I have ever seen for a district tourney. Give me a break! Why not play both girls and boys first round games the same night Example Monday girls at GRC, Tuesday boys at Montgomery, the girls finals on Thursday at GRC, and the boys finals Friday at Montgomery. Or at least do a variation similar. My personal opinion is that it is all about MONEY! Two gates for first round games=more money. But are they thinking about the fans and the travel, even with the the short distances and gas money. Or the students, who, if they go each night, will be out on the road each night all hours. How about the bands travelling to the games. Like for example, Montggomey band might play at home for the boys at 6pm and then travel to GRC for the girls 8:30 game, all on the same night Who ever heard of playing a first round game at 8:30pm and that being the only game the school that night? Somebody please explain this to us?

This is ridiculous. It is unfair to make the students and community to have to choose between the boys and the girls in the distict tournament.

Where the same yahoos that decided no pep band in Greenup County in charge of the 40th district too?

Surely somebody has some knowledge as to how they came up with this schedule. There has to be more to the story. I'd say it looks like it was drawn up by a third grader, but that would be an insult to all the third graders out there.

The girls are scheduled for M, T and W...this is how it usually has been done in the past. Why are the Boys games spread out so much and the same night as the girls? I would think this would be a question to ask Montgomery Co. who is hosting the boys tourney?

You're spot on Cardinal Fan. This would be consistent with what has happened the last couple of years since the realignment.

 

You wonder if GRC could've deferred their spot in the rotation once they realized there was an oversight, so that all the kids could be accommodated. After all, I thought that was the point of high school athletics.
