40th District Games playing the same night at different gyms

Featured Replies

So which game should be played second and take the weak officiating crew?

The BBA has almost guaranteed that there will be no double-headers in district tournament play.

Then how was this not a problem last year? I'm not familiar with the officiating crews of last year or their rules.

From what I understand, it's a new policy.

An administrator told me that double headers can either have the same crew do back-to-back games or they can choose to have a 2nd crew sent to the site, but it will be a crew that is made up of officials not ranked high enough to get a single scheduled district game. Either way it is a disadvantage for the teams playing the 2nd game.

Well that's interesting.. It doesn't seem like they should be able to say when to have your games or to give you a poor officiating crew if you decide to have 2 games on the same day..But your right. This pretty much does force districts to play on seperate nights.

Why did they have to start the boys district Monday night anyway? They could have easily pushed it back to Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday/Sunday allowing the girls to play Mon, Tues, Thurs. Then there wouldnt be a conflict at all.

Also as for the 8:30 start time, this is even more interesting because during the regular season if there was a double header it had to be played at 6&7:30. They said an 8:00 time was too late on a school night.... why all of a sudden did this change?.. during the district tournament at that?

Thursday was not an option at GRC because of the play.

I'm sure the start time was a consideration of those fans who will try to make more than one game per night.

Plato, you're right on.

I think the point the blues was trying to make is why school administrators felt it was important to have certain start times during the season for double headers, but when it went against what they felt was best for their respective teams, they made up new standards.

This is where the problem lies within the 40th district this year. Yes GRC did not help matters, but they do not have to shoulder the entire blame. There are too many powers that be that don't really care about all the kids in the 40th, just the ones they represent.
