Was Coach Hicks sick or something? Who coached the team?

According to the ADI:

GRAYSON — Bath County coach Jim Hicks had to sit out Tuesday night’s matchup against East Carter, but his Wildcats responded with a 68-57 road win over the Raiders.

Assistant coach Gary Boyd took over head coaching duties for Hicks, who was suspended one game for a comment he made on the radio this season.

Anyone know what he said?

This all goes back to the Rose Hill game at Bath and comments made about the officials. After the meeting at the KHSAA with the Bath County principal, there will be three other letters sent out by the KHSAA to the others involved. Hicks decided to set last night on his own so there would be no questions latter in postseason play.

Where will the three other letters be sent?

How have I stayed on the air all these years?????

The KHSAA is cracking down on radio interviews that bash officials. What some coaches don't realize is that officials often turn on the radio on their way home to hear coaches comments. I don't know what Coach Hicks said, but it had to be pretty bad for the KHSAA to step in.

Because you're tougher than the Wal-Mart pony!

Sounds like 2nd in command at Bath did a fine job!

Assigner secretary, one official, Rose Hill.

That two calls were blown in over time and that he wished his college roomie had called the game. No names were said. There is no copy of the radio show, although one official said he had a copy, Baths radio station doesn't tape it. It goes back to what was said at the meeting by the KHSAA, none of this would have happened if someone had been doing their job well before the game ever started. GoRaido you should never get in trouble if you are telling the truth. Any one that has tuned in knows that they will always get the truth on GORAIDO. Keep up the good work.

That is not correct......Names were mentioned and that ultimately is the problem.

I don't understand why the official would get a letter from the KHSAA. It seems he did nothing wrong.

Wonder who the Ref is?

If the KHSAA is sending the official a letter, then apparently he did do something. It could be an explanation of what was happening w/the situation--however!

If there is a conflict of interest then officials should take themselves off the game. This one official and the coach of Rose Hill were college roomates and he should have taken himself off the game. The administration of Bbath totally backed Coach Hicks on this issue. Coach Hicks volunteered to sit this game out so that they could put closure to the issue. All of this started with an anonymous letter being sent to the KHSAA accusing Coach Hicks of mentioning an official by name on the radio.

What is interesting is, that on the KHSSA website, they say they will not respond to anonymous letters or calls.

It seems to me you're questioning the integrity of the official when you say there's a conflict of interest. I'm sure Coach Hicks knew well before the game that Coach Fraley and the official were college roommates. I know that the school's AD and Coach Hicks would have known the officiating assignment for that game long before the game was played, and that they could have requested another official. It sounds like a case of sour grapes after losing on Hicks's part to me. I mean have you ever seen Coach Hicks on the sideline. He is the most theatrical coach I've ever seen. He grabs his head in disbelief after each call against his team, even the ones that are fairly obvious.
