Owsley County Lady Owls?

Featured Replies

What's up with the Lady Owls? I just saw on KHSAA that they lost to Jackson City 66-16. Does anyone have any details?

The score was backwards. Owsley County won 66 to 16. Owsley Led by 25 at the half and played the young girls on the team the last 14- 15 minutes of the game. Jackson City just could not buy a bucket 11 of Owsley County's 13 players scored in this game.

It was an extremely lopsided game. I applaud the Owsley Coaches for putting in the JV in the 2nd quarter. Every player on the bench did play and for extended amounts of time, not just 1-2 minutes. Congrats to the Lady Owls. Good luck on Monday!!!!

Congrats to Coach Cornett and Coach Mason. It looks like the Lady Owls are getting back on track. They have a couple of very winnable games next week and could be gearing of for a tournament run. They have the talent to win it. Estill is very average and the Lady Owls have already beaten them on their floor. Powell is at home, but they are injured. -- If Coach Cornett and Coach Mason get this thing rolling there may be sentiment to keep them on next season.

Estill County is a much better team now than what they were early in the season. Brandenburg is back from injury and the young players now have alot of experience. The Owsley seniors will have to step up and take charge.

I think Owsley County may be righting their ship as well. They startrd the season out in good fashion, then went through some puzzling losses, then won all their games in Florida during Christmas, only to come back home to see their coach resign from coaching and teaching. They have also had some girls that's had health issues that has affected thier game. I think they're ready to catch fire again. So, they've had to make some adjustments. I think one big plus is senior Kendra Combs is beginning to get back to her old form, and I believe the rest of the team will rally behind her. And I like the play of the 8th grader, Peyton Wright. She's been a big boost in many games, and is seeing more playing time lately.

This is still a young team...only two seniors (which may account for some of their uneven play this season), but I think they have a good shot at winning the district this year, and next year.
