Paul Green has also taken over as the new principal at Owsley County High. He will have his hands full coaching and being the principal, but I believe he can handle it. Good luck with both new jobs!!!!

If I were in Doug's shoes, that is exactly what I would do!!!

I think you will be suprised with the Lady Owls of Owsley County this year. They return everyone except two and have brought back veteran coach Paul Green.

Nick's a great kid. I hope his knee gets better and he has a great season, even thought I think he would look better in maroon. :sssh:

I can tell you why the Professor and everybody else that is involved is aggrivated at this. When Doug was hired, he said that he would stick around . He also stated that he would never work at Breathitt again, as long as Arch Turner was superintendent. This was said several times and we all believed him. Everyone at Owsley bent over backwards to help Coach Noble and we feel that the kids are getting jerked around with this waiting!!!! It is not fair for the kids, as much as they have been through. But I am sure that the administration will think long and hard before the next coaching hire to try to get stability that this program desperately needs. This is the second year in a roll that they have hired out of the district, supported the coaches and listened to them when they said they were committed to stay around, but I guess anyone will say anything to get a job, but that's not a very professional move for someone in education.

I agree with you Owlz Fan, and I believe to do it, they must hire within the system to find someone that will stay. I really believed that Doug Noble was the man that would stick with the boys and rebuild the program but I evidentally was fooled. If a coach is not hired within, I think the rollercoaster will continue. It also has to be someone that will be patient because it will not happen overnight. It will take several years to rebuild the Owls back to being a contender in the district and region. When and if they do hire a new coach, the whole boys program needs to be restructured and they need to look for new, enthuastic coaches from the elementary program up to the varsity. This is what happened to the girls program many years ago and with only 6 coaching changes since it begain in 1974, you can see the difference. I hope Owsley finds someone within the district that wants to see the Owls back to their former glory, with district championships again on their banners and regional appearances and state appearances in the All A Classic. I know we have boys with the talent, we just need a dedicated, consistent, patient coach to rebuild and I am confident that the Owsley Administration will back whoever is hired, as long as they are there for "ALL" the players.

As far as I know, he still retained his job as the Transportation Director for Breathitt County Schools.

If he has, he hasn't told the Owsley Administration.

That is also the way the rule has been explained and how I understand the rule also.

Wow!!! This is definitely news to me.

I agree with you. The criteria that was decided on definitely knocked out the current assigning secretary. And the way it was all planned out and how the screening committee was already picked, was totally wrong.

I hope you realize that teachers/administrators also have to maintain 24 to 48hours of continuing education yearly that must also be maintained for as long as they work.

I thought when you cheered for a team you were cheering for the college/school. If so, it shouldn't matter who the coach is. :ylsuper: And remember, a Kentucky team is a Kentucky team, so as a Kentuckian, who should you cheer for.

I agree. Both these teams are much better than they are now playing.
