Neers 44 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Solid win for the Engineers tonight, great defense. Best wishes to the young man for the Owls who went down hard tonight, any updates would be greatly appreciated.
Big Game Player Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Matt Wright went to the local Hospital there in Ervin and was examined. He was realeased later that night after taking x-rays and being examined and found to just have deep bruises around the rib cage area. Coming from Owsley team and being a friend to the Wright family, thank you for your prayers.
GO15AROD Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 This win moves Estill County to 4-0 in the district. Good win for the Engineers.
Big Game Player Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 This game was extremely rough. IMO is wasn't a terrible called game but there were some no calls on Owsley's end that should of been called and seemed that Estill got the benifit of the doubt under their basket while going up for the shot. Owsley at one time got 3 offensive rebounds in a row and bodies were flying but no whistles were blowing. Owsley was down 20 at half but only lost by 23. They seemed to dig down and fight back a little 2nd half and thats when it got rough. There were some elbows thrown to try to get free after getting a rebound or handling the ball up top since no calls were the only calls for Owsley most of the time. Estill is a good team and I'm not saying anyone took it but the home court advantage rule went into affect.
daballer03 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I've seen Owsley play a few times this year and they can be rough. One particular player will go out of his way to antagonize the other team. I've seen him elbow, trip, shove, etc. all after a call or play was over. He crossed the court and elbowed an opponent who was standing at the foul line waiting for his second shot (a sub was coming in for him) as he headed for the bench. He seems to watch carefully and do this when the refs attention is elsewhere.

Neers 44 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 It's good to hear that the Wright kid is ok, scary moment when a kid has to be carted off, hate to see that regardless of the opponent.
Owlz Fan Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Does this win for Estill mean that Estill and Owsley will play in the first round of district since Powell beat Lee?
1owlzfan Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Does this win for Estill mean that Estill and Owsley will play in the first round of district since Powell beat Lee? There are still four games to be played in the district, upsets can happen so it is too early to call: Powell at Owsley on 1/15/08 Powell at Estill on 1/22/08 Estill at Lee on 2/1/08 Owsley at Powell on 2/1/08
