I heard the Class 'A' requirements will be the 300 schools with the smallest enrollment. Has anyone heard that? If so, where did you find your information? I looked on allaclassic.org website but didn't find anything. How many schools play in the Class 'A' now?

It will be the 125 schools with the lowest enrollement. They will start using that next year.

This year there was less then 125 so that is why they are going to the new rule of the lowest 125 schools.

Thanks for the link. I opened the 06-07 and 05-06 Avg Enrollment report. Which one of these columns of number would the All A use to determine the 125 schools that would qualify?s

 

I see some schools has a "2" multiplier. I would guess these are the all Boys and all Girls school.

That is correct.

I would like to see the All A Classic realign its regions to even them out a bit. The 3rd Region has only four teams while some others have 10 or more. I would also consolidate the two Louisville regions into one ... the Louisville teams simply aren't competitive year-in and year-out.

I agree on the realignment, the 1st region has had up to 12 teams in it and will have 11 next year with Heath returning.

A team should be in the same region for both the regular regional and the All "A" Classic. It would become very confusing if they start bouncing around.

I understand your point, but the regions that don't have many teams often send relatively weak teams to the state tournament. Why should they have an easier road to the state tournament just because their region has fewer teams?

Because if they have fewer teams it means they have more big schools. That makes it harder to win in March, so it's only fair they have it a little easier in January. Plus, a team should not be in Region 4 in March and Region 3 for the All "A Classic. If you are a Region 3 school you should be a Region 3 school for everything.

The intent of the All A has been to give the small schools a tournement of their own that they can be competive in. The regions that have only a few teams may also be regions that have larger schools that dominate their region when it comes to the state tournament. IMO the teams should be in the same regions for both. The only thing I would change about the class a would be to eliminate the private schools.

I heard Steidel talking about this on ICN. But, really, if you're going to use a set number for the number of schools participating, why not make it 128 instead of 125? It makes the brackets a lot simpler, and you don't have to worry about 3 teams getting a first round bye.
