Even though JC didn't have their best player it's still a good win for the Tomcats. They have been improving and are starting to put it together on the offensive side of the ball. Getting into the Championship of this competitive tournament is a great thing, and I just hope they keep improving and by Febuary and March may have a chance in the regional tournament.

What time does the Ashland vs Magoffin game start?

I heard McDavid had 18 pts and 14 boards. Nice outing for Drew, he always seems to get a double double but very quietly.

I've heard he wants to go to Illinois, Ole Miss or Marshall. No offers yet but they all have shown a lot of interest.

GIAT takes the losses rough, I think he jumped to conclusions and got extremely confident after the win vs Rock Hill. But he'll come back and support his team, always does and always will.

Mason is a top team in the state, and Ashland is trying to adjust to a new playing style. I look for Ashland to go back to the slow down game vs the more athletic and dangerous Mason County. Ashland has trouble will good big men (Selby) and Miller is one of the top players in the state. Should be big trouble for the T-Cats but it will be a good learning experience against a great team.

Like I said in the prediction thread, I didnt think Ashland had any kind of answer for Boyd down low. Selby really established himself in the paint and played very well. I dont have any stats but i do know that Ashland shot terrible from the field, and very very rarely got any second chance oppurtunities. Ashlands press really got to Boyd late in the game and turned up the tempo to Ashlands favor but IMO we should've pulled out the press much earlier in the game. It was just another good game in the Ashland v. Boyd rivalry. Ashland will be fine, they need some more time under Coach Biggs to get used to his style and they will be contenders in the end. Boyd should expect to have another good season and make a run in the playoffs. Good luck to both teams

Congrats, I've watched this kid play for a long time. He's one heck of an athlete and a great kid. He just improves every outing, I may have to go watch Marshall play next year.

Ive heard Boyd is tough down low. I don't know if Ashland has enough under the basket to handle them. I think they will have to try and keep running like Biggs loves to do, and try and make this a fast paced game and attempt to take away Boyds big men.

Does anyone know when the All State teams are going to be announced? For both the CJ and AP? It seems like they were out by this time last year.

I like the poll, it's hard to rank the teams in the 16th this year. I think there are a number of teams who can beat anyone in the region on any given night. Cubster does a great job with these and i have no complaints. Keep up the good work!

Actually Ashlands opponents overall record was 14-8 as of Sept 18th. Raceland, Belfry, Russell, and P-Burg all won this week which brings it to at least 18-8. I dont know about P-West.

I heard someone say that there were around 7,000 at the Russell vs Ashland game this season. Not sure if thats correct but it seems close and with some of the recent games between these two teams, and the distance they are apart makes for a great atmosphere.

Im not saying that the Rams scrimmaged pansies. Im just saying that the Tomcats didn't look as bad people on here are saying. The teams they scrimmaged were big, strong, physicla teams. Ashlands coaches were trying to toughen them up for the season, by playing these teams and better competition.

Ashland may not have looked great in either of their scrimmages but look who they scrimmaged. Campbell County is a 4A NKY school who had the best D in NKY last season. Ironton is always a powerhouse, and even though they lost their long time coach still have boys who will come out and overpower you. Raceland on the other hand scrimmaged West Carter who's program isn't the greatest in the area. Pikeville has a very good program and is ranked but they're also just a 1A school, about the same size as Raceland.

Now this is going to be a good game between two talented teams but I wouldn't go ahead and tab it as "the district Championship game." There are still some solid teams that only have a few holes to fill in the district that can compete. Mason County comes to mind, they lose a few very very talented players but still return a whole lot. And with their current coach they can never be counted out of the race. Boyd County has a new coach in Lee Evans who may bring a new system and will definitely bring a new mindset to the program.
