Lawrence County may not have the best field in the state but it is well maintained. They have a huge scoreboard too, very very nice out there.

Part of the decline in my area (Ashland) is that many kids who play other sports are attracted to the crowd and atmosphere that those other sports bring. Football we had 8,000 people at the Russell game, and Basketball we have large crowds where there is standing room only in the gym. These sports are on the front page VERY regularly and give kids maximum exposure. Baseball we may have 20 people in the stands. Kids get used to playing in these other sports that give them more exposure in the community and it's always a blast playing infront of 8,000 fans and in a gym where you can't hear yourself think. Then you come to baseball and it's basically silent and it's not as much fun for kids.

You could travel to see the Georgetown JV and Centre College JV games.

Why wouldn't it happen? I know it was a big success last year, a lot of great talent and a large crowd.

I just heard that they just got Ron Blume, the former Johnson Central running back. They are recruting Michael Walters 6'3 330lbs OL, Travis Gallagher 6' 220lbs DL, Lacy Snodgrass 6'5 230 OL from Ashland. And are pursuing them pretty hard, and all of them are very interested!

A win early in the season may not translate to that team being better than the team they beat later in the season, ESPECIALLY when a team is struggling now.

Does anyone know when the teams will be announced? Or what schools will be represented on the East/West teams?

You have those everywhere, Boyd beat Rowan twice and East beat Boyd twice. I believe Boyd is exactly where they should be, lately they have been struggling. Rowan is a team that can really beat anybody in this region but they can also lose to every team, depends on if Daniel is hot or not. And if he's not, you hope he doesn't try and force it or you're in trouble.

He'll be playing alongside some other great players from Kentucky Petrino, Ammons, Kramer.

Georgetown will be getting a dandy of an athlete, hard worker, good student, and a great kid. Drew is a big target at WR 6'3 210lbs and has a great pair of hands. Congratulations to Drew and to Georgetown!

All three? I would be suprised if Wills ends up anywhere but Georgetown.

What I'm saying is that Russell is the top team right now, and a team cannot bring anything other than their A game in if they plan to upset them.

The 16th region is really up in the air this year. Russell is the #1 and has proven that but after Russell I think the next 7 teams can all beat eachother any given night. Ashland and Elliott are the top 2 contenders to knock Russell off the mountain, and this game will prove who's the top contender.
