16th Region MVP Last 25 Years
tcat25 replied to Ashland Tomcat 1959's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
But it wasn't just OJ, you also had Marcus Thomas, Marcus Dawson, Mark King and a few others who contributed big time. As a 7th and 8th grader which is when he played in the 16th region, OJ was not the best player to play in the 16th in the last 25 years. -
Picking one of my favorite coaches Jay Wright, who turns the tempo up. Ty Lawson, Kevin Love

That is IMO what basketball should be about, teamwork and defense.

16th Region MVP Last 25 Years
tcat25 replied to Ashland Tomcat 1959's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
OJ only played in the 16th for a short while and doesn't have the best stats the 16th has ever seen, he did his best stuff long after he left this region. If you want to count the things he did AFTER he left then yes probably OJ but not WHILE he was here. -
Amazing grace, my dad used to sing that to me a lot when i was a kid. Oh and just a cool fact for Tony Danza, God Blessed the Broken Road-Rascal Flatts was written by my aunts best friend!

I love Ashlands Putnam Stadium! The horseshoe style with the stands right on top of the sidelines, and the history in it. Russells "Hank" is #2 in my book, and when these 2 teams play eachother expect either stadium to be packed to the brim, 10,000+ is some instances.

What is Ashland going to do???? part 2
tcat25 replied to happy ol' dad's topic in KY Football (High School)
Honestly I'm not sure its so much the inexperience as it is lack of talent and lack of team leadership. This years senior class is honestly pretty pitiful other than Matt Thomas. Every year we have had a quality senior class and quality captains who know how to lead, know how to win, and know what it takes to win and make everyone else follow their lead. Bonner, Mcdavid, Gallagher, Davis, Holbrook, Brislin, Reliford, Gurule, Robinette, Hensley, Clark are all quality leaders who have been through the fire. Our captains this year and our seniors are not leaders. -

Ashland is inexperienced because they lost 20 starters from the year before. When you return only 2 starters on your entire team you're definitely going to be inexperienced and it takes a lot of time to get experience and get used to the speed of the game if you haven't been exposed to it before. It's not the coaches fault that they lost so many good players, they are running tough practices and have been hit by the injury bug pretty badly too. -
They scrimmage Campbell County this Saturday at Campbell County and at Mason County the following Saturdat i believe.
-
1. Johnson Central (9-1) 2. Russell (8-2) 3. Mason County (8-2) 4. Boyd County (7-3) 5. Ashland (5-5) 6. Greenup (6-4) 7. Raceland (7-3) 8. East Carter (5-5) 9. Lawrence County (5-5) 10. Rowan County (3-7)

I don't believe Poplin ever started a game for Ashland. I've been to a few practices and every practice I come away with a different opinion on the team. The defense has a few kids who can make some plays but they are very weak at the LB spot. The secondary looks to be pretty good with a few players who got some playing time last year, and the D line looks ok with Bonner and Nethercutt at DE's. I haven't watched much offense but it seems the coaches are trying to get Matt out of the pocket and pressuring the Defense to either commit to him running of throwing on the run.

I agree with what someone said earlier, get your best and most talented players on the field. Instead of rotting behind Kelley, if I were Micah I would make the switch to play.

Will You Be Watching The Home Run Derby?
tcat25 replied to youknowme's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
I'll be watching, and my vote goes to Maggs. -
Wasn't he listed as a top 2 or 3 DT when he was a senior? I didn't think he was listed as playing LB when he was being recruited.
-
They meant Chad Tackett resigned as football coach.
-
Or rebound from Doherty, recruit top talents like crazy, win basketball games and constantly compete in the tournament.
