That pretty much sums it up. I don't know what a coach can do these days to get respect, but I wish it would happen fast to this team or its going to be an ugly season.

Have you seen Mayfield this year? If you follow the program as closely as some of us you'd know that we aren't overrated, I would say that 7 or 8th in the 1A polls is about right for us at this point. The talent is there, its just some of the same junk that we had last year, a bunch of kids that are kinda just going through the motions, they come on the field but don't come to give 100%. Its like wearing that cardinal on their jersey doesn't really mean much to a good portion of the ones you see on the field. I know it would be a disaster, but if I was the coach and saw what was going on, I would yank out the kids that don't want to play and put in ones that do, we'd suffer but we would be better off in the long run for it. In the Ballard game, I would have went away from that game thinking that the talent wasn't there, but in the 4th quarter I saw a team score TD after TD like it wasn't nothing. We were catching everything, unlike the rest of the game. This team can do well if it wants to.

I really hate it that we have to hope and pray that the team of a particular half shows up to play, it just isn't Mayfield football. I am hoping that the boys just expected a win at Ballard last week and were really preparing for Graves this week. I expect Mayfield to try to establish a ground game at some point in the game (preferably in the first half) and then exploit Graves pass defense which gave up I think somewhere around 300 yards passing to Massac county. Our kids just have to keep their heads in the game and make the catches, when you run an offense like Mayfield is running, you have to catch at least 50% of your passes if you expect to win the game.

Yeah, about the biggest thing we can take away from the game is the 4th qtr rally, that was probably one of the best things I have seen from this group of kids in the past couple of years. It just showed that when they get their heads in the game and concentrate on making the catches and played as a team, they can accomplish great things. I have to admit, when Ballard scored in the second half, I didn't think there would be any comeback possible.

I could tell that Murray is a much improved team from last year from what I saw in the Calloway game, the new coach is really changing things around there for the better it looks like.

I agree with you, Joe is having a hard time getting respect with those kids but I think the defense actually played pretty good for the most part with the exception of a big pass play but almost 75% of their points came from our offense coughing the ball up.

Wow man, I am surprised to see you talking about coach Joe, but at least you are seeing some of the stuff that others are seeing.

I saw a horse collar tackle this last week in an 8th grade game, the kid jumped on the players back and rode him down, it looked pretty painful, not to mention potentially bad for that players back.

I liked what I saw from Mayfield in the first quarter for sure, looks like we pretty much gave up when FC made it 21-7, but I started to see some kids cramping, which I guess is to be expected in a game that started around the hottest part of the day. FC looks like they could be state-bound once again, cause those kids are only going to get better, they looked like they were in mid-season form right now. I was hoping that the score would have been closer, but now I am just hoping that Mayfield came out of the game with no major injuries.

Which starters were missing? I was thinking that all the starters on offense were in the game. Were there some defensive players out?

I don't know anything about Heath this year but I thought the score would have been a little closer than this.

Great game!! Tied at the half and then Murray kicked a field goal to make it 17-14. After a few exchanges in the 4th, Calloway pulled ahead with a TD pass, can't remember to whom, but both teams played well I thought. Calloway is going to be a team once they can connect on their passes, I counted at least 5 dropped passes, 2 or 3 of which were TD's. Murray has a great running game and is going to be a force to be dealt with, the King kid and the Shikill kid are a great running tandem. Of course Tyrell Willis is a beast on offense and defense, prob more effective in this game on defense, but still an oustanding player. Brockman looked great even with his hand guard on, it probably took away from his option to run, but the kid has an arm no doubt. I think in the end, Calloway just was just too much for Murray, Murray started looking winded and started making some mistakes on defense.

Oh man, you hit it on the head, I have a job where they are lenient enough to let me leave early on Fridays. It has become a requirement for any job I have to allow me to leave early on Fridays during football season. Your right, it gets tough to focus on Fridays.

Calloway coach McKeel was seen this morning on top of the high school, donning his uniform, looks a tad tight, lol.

I think some of the best food I have had is down in Fulton County in their little concession stand they got there on the end. They serve up some of the best ribeye sandwiches I have ever had.

I am not sure he is out, I was told that his cast is off. I would still keep him out for a couple of games tho, but I am not the coach.

Well, one thing that makes it interesting is that Ft. Campbell lost to Graves last year and played Tilghman a very close one. Those are two teams that Mayfield had a fairly easy time with so it could shape up to be a good game, depending on which Mayfield team shows up to play, so far this year I haven't noticed any player conflicts, time will tell.

I would say that Ft. Campbell is going to be favored in this one, this years cards team could still be a bit young to pull this one off, but it could still happen. I think if the team I saw start the first of last season shows up, anything could happen. I'm with snake, if we play em close, I will feel a lot better about this season,

I wasn't there, but I would think that Mayfield would have an easier time with Christian than Milan, TN. I have seen Christian and Milan both and Milan is prob twice as large as Christian, but I am not sure who has the better athletes.
