  1. Crittenden plays hard every down and won't give up even when they are behind like a lot of teams do. I think that Mayfield will try to come out early and put some points on the board quick to try to get Crittenden to get out of their element and go to other offensive schemes they are not used to. Mayfield really struggled with Crittenden's running game last year and at times has still had problems with that this year so Crittenden will probably be successful with their type of offense in this game, but the problem with their type of offense is that they can't score as quick as Mayfield can with it. In a scoring match I take Mayfield by 2 or 3 TD's.
  2. Bluegrass preps' poll is the best in the state period, done by people that actually watch and care about high school football.
  3. Ok, how is Crittenden county above Mayfield in the Massey ratings? Does it figure in points scored against or something?
  4. You have got the right attitude about things for sure, :thumb:. I guess we can't always have spectacular seasons, Mayfield too was very young the past couple of seasons and look at us now, we are 5-0 and beat the defending 2A TN state champions. You are right, it will come with experience and time!!
  5. This season has got to be killing you adopted, what is going on with Danville? Mayfield struggled a bit the past two seasons, but not like this. Are you guys having the attitude problems we had or is the talent just not there?
  6. Is that why it was cancelled? Was there that many kids that had the virus?
  7. So far Bishop Brossart is doing this very thing, they didn't win a game last year and so far they are undefeated.
  8. Nice win. Things are setting up nice for the Critt-Mayfield game. Ap poll has Mayfield in the 2nd slot and Crittenden in 3rd, looks like Crittenden is finally getting some recognition.
  9. Wow, touchy, he didn't say Mayfield was as good as O'boro, just that Graves has only seen one good offense thus far. I would have liked to have seen Mayfield play O'boro this year, I don't think we could stop their offense but Mayfield can put up some points. Maybe the two teams could hook up in the next couple of years, your coach is a Mayfield alum after all,
  10. I too am concerned about the defense, Mayfield is giving way too much cushion on passing teams. I think any team would have problems with Willis, our passing defense concerned me the most. The defense looked great in the second half, I don't know what happened in the first half but the team seemed to step it up in the second.
  11. I am going with the rockets in this one but think it will be a close game. I got to respect a team that gives O' Catholic all they want.
  12. Is McLean County the school in Edmonton or Edmonson KY? I think that Mayfield played them a couple of years there in the playoffs and they were a very well disciplined team from what I remember. I just remember the long drive over there from Mayfield, didn't think we were ever going to get there.
  13. Yeah, I really like reading the notebook, its like a highlight reel of the entire state, . One "Game to Watch" that I would add is the Saturday matchup of Mayfield vs. Trousdale county, two teams that appear to be pretty strong this year. They have only played twice in their history, swapping wins at the opposing stadiums. Trousdale is coming off a perfect 15-0 state championship season and Mayfield is coming off a somewhat disappointing season by Mayfield standards but appears to be a force this year. It looks to be the speed of Mayfield vs. the size of Trousdale, it should make for a heck of a game.
  14. Yeah, its one of those games I will be proud to say I went to, one of those games you always refer back to and talk about. I don't remember going down to Trousdale on the last matchup but I am told I was there, lol. Anyways, this game could go either way, I am just hoping it goes the cardinal way, lol. If nothing else, this should show our defense where the problem spots are and make for an easy measuring stick for our offense.
  15. It would be nice if coach would leave some of the starting line in to give him time to get his passes off and make some good decisions. He was running for his life out there, not much learning going on.
  16. WPSD said that the Powell kid broke his leg on that play, tough loss for Tilghman. The announcer said the same thing the other poster said, the team just wasn't the same after Powell left the game.
  17. Good to hear man, I was hoping somebody that went there would give us an update on this scrimmage. How did Tyrese do? I think that Rump was pretty hungry after having to sit out last season, I think he will have a good year this season. Good to hear about the line, I have heard they have put a lot of time in, sounds like its paying off. What about Luke Guhy, did he get any reps in? Just wondered if we did much passing or was it more of a ground game?
  18. I went to Books A Million last night in Paducah and couldn't find it so I asked the girl there and she told me it was on backorder. I know you can order it online here http://www.shopcatspause.com/pr20kefoye.html, I think I am going to go this route.
  19. I always get mine at Books A Million in Paducah, KY, I am going to look tonight.
  20. Mayfield deals with this problem every year, we only have 45 players play each year tops.
  21. I heard that Cliff Dew is the new defensive coordinator at Mayfield and I was wondering what some of the Mayfield fans thoughts were on this. I remember him being the coach back in the early 2000's but I don't remember what he particularly coached back then. He went down to Mississippi to do some coaching and is now back here.
