GoBigRed
Great game!! Tied at the half and then Murray kicked a field goal to make it 17-14. After a few exchanges in the 4th, Calloway pulled ahead with a TD pass, can't remember to whom, but both teams played well I thought. Calloway is going to be a team once they can connect on their passes, I counted at least 5 dropped passes, 2 or 3 of which were TD's. Murray has a great running game and is going to be a force to be dealt with, the King kid and the Shikill kid are a great running tandem. Of course Tyrell Willis is a beast on offense and defense, prob more effective in this game on defense, but still an oustanding player. Brockman looked great even with his hand guard on, it probably took away from his option to run, but the kid has an arm no doubt. I think in the end, Calloway just was just too much for Murray, Murray started looking winded and started making some mistakes on defense. diamondog
Murray was impressive tonight despite Calloway being very short-handed. Brockman surprised everybody and came back at Laker QB after 5 weeks in a cast on left hand and was pretty sharp (250 yards, 2 TDs). Tigers were solid and will win their 2A district. They have much more line size than Trigg and Caldwell and plenty of skill players. Shikill Davis outshined Jamie King in Murray's backfield. Unusual to see a team run the wishbone these days. Exciting HS game for the huge crowd of 5,000+. This was a big rivalry win for CC that was iffy going in due to numerous injuries. CC will be vastly improved when their missing starters come back in the next week couple of weeks and will be a force in 4A.
swainer1
Great game! Murray's wishbone and huge O-line moved the ball effectively from 20 to 20, but Calloway County's Defense stiffened on two occasions inside their 20 on two occassions stopping the Tigers on 4th down twice in the second half and holding them a field goal (22yd) in another. After Murray forced a Calloway punt from their own 25yd line with around 6 minutes left, the Murray return man was hit and fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Lakers. Down 17-14, Casey Brockman put together another strong drive and hit Austin Hargrove on a 28 yd Td pass to take the lead. The Tigers were forced out of the wishbone, and although Murray QB Jordan Garland (Sr) had a nice game, the Laker defense put tons of pressure on him and forced an interception to seal the Tigers fate. I was thinking that all the starters on offense were in the game. Were there some defensive players out?
