  1. Sorry to call you out about this, but you've got it wrong on Strong's salary and bonuses. The retention bonuses I mentioned aren't part of then $4.4 million number you threw out there. Read further along in your link: That's where the $4.6 million number through 2016 comes from. I actually didn't include any of the performance incentives bonuses in that. If Louisville doesn't win another game and Charlie Strong stays through June 30, 2016, they will owe him over $18 million dollars, end of story.
  2. Demling and Rutherford have both been teasing a possible surprise signing for about a week. For the record, they are both media guys that Pitino personally likes.
  3. I think it comes up the year before they fire him. Steve Kragthorpe, for example.
  4. Sounds like he's safe for now. What they don't mention, though, is why he's safe, and in my mind the reason is that raise and extension he signed this past offseason. Because that's a lot of money, and even at Florida money enters into the equation, no matter what some fans might believe.
  5. On Poplar Level. Now they're playing on Preston Highway.
  6. If you look at my next post, it's just as accurate to say that I think X is more likely to beat Male than Manual is to beat Trinity. All I'm saying is that Manual advancing is the only result that I would consider an upset. Manual advancing past the next game would be an even bigger upset.
  7. By which I mean I think the X-Male game is a true 50/50 toss up and I think Trinity is a slight favorite over Manual.
  8. I think Male is more likely to beat X than Manual is to beat Trinity.
  9. I heard he got in early on Twitter's IPO.
  10. Personally, I'm thrilled that Pitino doesn't leave decisions up to Kentucky fans.
  11. UK fans should know that's some glass houses reasoning.
  12. That if he fulfills his obligations he will earn what was promised? Pitino says that he gave Chane a list of things he had to do for 30 days before being reinstated, and that Chane has done that. Do you have inside information that the rest of us don't that says this isn't true?
  13. Probably SK-Dixie, just so I can get an idea if they're any good or not.
  14. If Pitino were primarily concerned about how it comes across to fans, ie used press conferences as a tool to inform, no. Since we all know that's not what he's doing in press conferences let's examine the outcome differently. If he wanted to make a bunch of noise about how the team was moving on without Chane, so that he could get Behanan's attention, by all accounts it's been pretty successful.
  15. Also word was going around before the game on Saturday that Chane might be back Tuesday, so...
  16. Want to respond to my refutation of this point in the CofC thread or his one? I'd read it in either.
  17. The first round practically already is a bye for most of the district winners. That seems needlessly convoluted.
  18. I don't think either look like the end of the world.
  19. Alternatively, pair the Male district with the NKY district: Round 1 Ryle at Male Seneca at Campbell County Dixie Heights at Fern Creek Southern at SK PRP at Trinity Eastern at Manual Butler at Ballard Oldham County at St X Round 2 Campbell County at Male Fern Creek at SK Manual at Trinity Ballard at St X
  20. Because moderate thread necromancy amuses me, here's what the first two rounds of the playoffs would have looked like under the other alignment (assuming that the X-Manual-Butler-PRP district is paired with the NKY district): Round 1 Ryle at St X Butler at Campbell County Dixie Heights at Manual PRP at SK Southern at Trinity Eastern at Fern Creek Seneca at Ballard Oldham County at Male Round 2 Campbell County at St X Manual at SK Fern Creek at Trinity Ballard at Male
  21. I believe we heard this same song and dance when Tennessee wanted to hire Strong, that Louisville couldn't possibly keep him. I think I've been quite clear in this thread that the reason I don't think Strong ends up at Florida if they fire Muschamp this year is because of money, not because Strong loves it so much at Louisville or because Louisville is a job on par with Florida. That's not exactly Pollyanna. Personally, I think it's not unreasonable to question is worth what Louisville pays for him--but I will come out and say he's not worth what Florida would have to pay to get him, not when Bobby Petrino is available for pennies on the dollar.
  22. First of all, Louisville doesn't have to match Florida's offer. They get a free $5 Million right off the bat. Louisville can pay $4.6 million a year for Strong through 2016, but Florida would have to pay $5.9 million (plus whatever they have to pay Muschamp to not coach at Florida). Florida is not, IMO, going to pay $500,000 more a year for Strong than Alabama does for Saban.
  23. Would that include a multi-million dollar pay-cut? Because if not, A) he wouldn't do anything and B) I really don't think it's going to happen.
