There would be 44 to 45 teams in each class with the largest class at 32. Feel free to comment. Like I said, some of the geographics may be a little off, so, if you see any teams that could be swapped, feel free..

Sorry but the transportation would never fly.

Crittenden Co. vs. Metcalfe County=3 hour drive one way

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Alot of 2 hour+ trips on there. KHSAA will stay with 6 classes for the next few years. Will change if needed, but transportation is a major issue for super's across the state.

I believe Crittenden Co. and Metcalfe were in the same district together before the current realignment. Still a long way.

I think 3A looks fine with one exception and that being Knox Central and East Ridge should switch. Knox Central would be in with a lot of the current teams they share a district with plus East Ridge being in one district and Pike Central being in another wouldn't work.

Good job doing this though.

5A is jacked.

The placements of the Louisville districts is wrong, these make more sense:

Manual, X, PRP, Butler

Male, Senca, Southern, Fern Creek

Trinity, Ballard, Eastern, Shelby Co.

I mean, Campbell County playing Louisville schools is crazy, but I understand you need one more team in the west.

Thats correct. Metcalfe was in 1a region 1, district 2 with Crittenden, Mclean, Russellville & Hancock in the old 4 class alignment. My problem with them was trying to get some balance in each district and I placed them there due to the old way they were. Apparantly, the KHSAA had similar issues in the old alignment..

Don't think I would put Campbell County in 5A "D5". They would need to go into 5A "D6".

You're 100% correct. The problem was trying to balance 4 teams in each district and with only 11 Lville schools and 5 NKy schools, it made it difficult. I think Shelby probably fits better in with the LVille schools, but you still run into the 5 NKy teams with only 4 fitting in and Campbell would then have to switch into the east bracket. That may actually work better.

For NKY, this would be a terrible alignment.

For the 3a, I agree. If the KHSAA decided to go to this system, maybe they would allow Highlands and CC to play up to the 4a level and it work out a little better geographically.. I think the other 4 classes in NKy would be fine. Not alot of difference in the current alignment, especially in 1a, 2a and 5a. But, keep in mind, I put this together based solely on enrollment, so, I'm sure some tweaking would have to be done, no different than how it is now, really.

Thanks and you're probably right..I had no idea where East Ridge was actually located..

Basically, I pretty much threw the teams out there in louisville. Absolutely, there would be some changes. What I looked at here was primarily placing St X, Trinity and Male in 3 different districts and with Manual being a big rivalry with Male, kept them together and then I knew Ballard and Eastern were in with Trinity now, so, kept it that way. I really had no idea with Fern Creek, Southern, Butler, Seneca, etc. They could be switched to accomodate geographics, as needed.. I also agree with Campbell, just had to balance it is the reason I went there. It may be better to place Shelby there and possibly move Campbell to the East and Harlan in with NHardin, Nelson and CHardin. Thats a tough call. You don't want a 3 team district for sure..
