How would this 5 class alignment look?

So, you're saying that in 1 year, Harlan Consolidated, with 733 boys as of 2007 is going to lose 69 students or 6 other schools are going to miraculously gain more than them.. The smallest 6a team(Bullitt Central) has a male enrollment of 664.. looks like they're squarely in 6a to me and by the way, if you look at the 6 class alignment in the KHSAA.org site, they agree and have Harlan in with these same 6a teams...

The figures you saw were simply conjecture ... the school is yet to exist officially.

And HDE has always maintained the new school wouldn't be as big as Cawood, Evarts and Cumberland combined because some Letcher County kids that attended Cumberland probably wouldn't go to the new school because of travel considerations.

Gotcha...That makes a little more sense then...

1A - Gallitan belongs in the Trimble Co district.

Move both Bardstown teams into the district Gallitan left.

Harlan County was dropped from the official alignment when the numbers were analyzed further:

CLASS 6A

District-6-1- Apollo, Daviess County, Graves County, Henderson County, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Marshall County

District-6-2- Central Hardin, Greenwood, Meade County, Nelson County, North Hardin

District-6-3- Butler, DuPont Manual, Pleasure Ridge Park, St. Xavier

District-6-4- Bullitt Central, Fern Creek, Male, Southern

District-6-5- Ballard, Eastern, Seneca, Trinity (Louisville)

District-6-6- Boone County, Campbell County, Conner, Ryle, Simon Kenton

District-6-7- Henry Clay, Lafayette, Paul Dunbar, Tates Creek

District-6-8- George Rogers Clark, Madison Central, Scott County, Shelby County

Harlan County had 1,240 high school students as of last week. I'm guessing that's about 620 boys, so I guess they did lose more than 69 students, or maybe the numbers were wrong to begin with.

Don't know about the numbers, but heard Harlan Co would be 5A with Letcher Central, Perry Central, Clay Co, N. Laurel and Whitley Co This would make more sense if the numbers are correct and there will be 6 classes. Travel time to these schools would not be too bad. When will KHSAA let the schools know so they can begin scheduling for 09?

1a

D1-Murray, Ballard Mem, Mayfield, Fulton Co, Fulton City

D2-McLean Co, Metcalfe Co, Crittenden Co, Russellville, Caverna

D3-Campbellsville, Williamsburg, Somerset, Green Co, Gallatin Co

D4-Frankfort, Trimble Co, Holy Cross, KCD, Bethlehem, Bardstown

D5-Cov HCross, Beechwood, Ludlow, Dayton, Bellevue

D6-LCA, Fairview, Nicholas Co, Bracken Co, Raceland, Paris

D7-Middlesboro, Lynn Camp, Harlan, Jenkins, Hazard

D8-Pikeville, Paintsville, Pineville, S.Floyd, Phelps, Allen Central

I don't have any big issues with this part of it.

It would make a lot more sense geographically to switch Pineville and Jenkins from D7 and D8:

* D7 (with the exception of Hazard) are schools that have US25E running through them -- that would include Pineville as well.

* D8 is more of a true "far-eastern Ky." district -- Jenkins being in far northern Letcher Co. and about 30 minutes from Pikeville fits there much better than Pineville.

Thanks and noted...I'm really too unfamiliar with that part of the state to make a sound judgement on where some of these teams are actually located.

Harlan County in 5A.

CLASS 5A

District-5-8- Clay County, Harlan County, Letcher County Central, North Laurel, Perry County Central, Whitley

County

North Oldham in 3a should go with Moore- Shawnee dist- only a 15 min drive compared to all the N- KY schools
