  1. Never ask a barber if he thinks you need a haircut.
  2. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. (And keep me from getting my password yanked.)
  3. Aw, now, you guys are making fun of me. I thought I was gonna win a prize. (An ostrich? Really?) I hate that cannon. They shot my hat off with it.
  4. Ft. Thomas was named for Civil War General George H. Thomas, the "Rock of Chicamauga". http://home.att.net/~dmercado/ A cannon seems fitting. (I learned that in 10th grade...at Dixie Heights....by the way.)
  5. Guru, I'd like to change my screen name to 'Jackhorn Gigolo'.
  6. That's not true, Illegal touching is a live ball foul.
  7. Illegal Touching, 5 yard penalty plus loss of down. Maybe intentional grounding also if an eligible receiver was not in the vacinity of the pass. That one would result in a safety.
  8. Yeah, well, that's a strategic mistake...
  9. Yeah, well, that's a strategic mistake...
  10. Sorry, public school system grad. (They played more than one playoff game in a number of years. Never been accused of high intelege...intlec...IQ.)
  11. Can somebody clarify how the all-time record is figured? I'm scratching my head over Frankfort's 17 playoff appearances with a 12-16-1 record. Fuzzy math, I guess...
  12. Anything? Well, he ain't exactly handsome.
  13. Yes, it's legal by rule.
  14. They're bringing their band. (I couldn't resist.)
  15. "...had to grease the door jam to get her hips through."
  16. No, that's another rules difference between highschool and NCAA/NFL. In NFHS (highschool) rules, it is intentional grounding for a pass to be "intentionally thrown into an area not occupied by an eligible offensive receiver" and/or "A pass intentionally thrown incomplete to save loss of yardage or to conserve time".
  17. Okay, so this whole thread has been about somebody in the stands who either misinterpreted what happened on the field or simply didn't see all aspects of a play transpire or just missed the official ruling. That doesn't mean that the fan in question didn't have a clue, he obviously does and just missed something. And it seems that we've clarified it for him because he asked.
  18. In the case of a Free Kick which is first touched by a kicking team player, which has not touched the ground, an "awarded fair catch" is a penalty option, it is not a result of anybody signaling. A Scrimmage Kick (punt or field goal attempt) has an exception for the kicking team to catch it in flight if there's no receiving team member in postion to catch the kick. Complicated, I agree.
  19. I wasn't there, so I'm guessing. Did the kick touch the ground before it was first touched by the kicking team? If not, Kick Catch Interference and an awarded Fair Catch at the spot of touching is an option for the receiving team. Again, just a guess based on your description of the play.
  20. Rule 8-3-5...If during a successful try, a foul by B occurs, A is given the choice of: a. Accepting the penalty and replaying the down following enforcement; or b. Accepting the result of the play and enforcement of the penalty from the succeeding spot. Rule 8-3-6...If during an unsuccessful try, a foul by b occurs, the down is replayed after enforcement.
  21. Roughing the kicker rules apply whether the kick is blocked or not.
  22. Who is that post direct toward?
  23. NFHS Rule 9-9-1...A player or nonplayer or person not subject to the rules shall not hinder play by an unfair act which has no specific rule coverage. Penalty: Unfair Act - the referee enforces any penalty he considers equitable, including the award of a score. Repeated fouls - the game may be forfeited. It's pretty rare for a Referee to resort to even acknowledging a band director's existence; I suspect there's more to the story than is being told here.
