I watched Corbin vs. Rock... The bottom line is exactly what you said.. on the year Corbin has lost 5 times and of their 5 wins only one has came against a respectable opponent... I just feel that if you take District 8 for example... I feel Belfry and SC definately would beat Corbin and Pburg and the Hounds are very comparable. Corbin gets a free pass to the 3rd round whereas one of those 3 teams just mentioned goes home after round 1! I hope they do give Russell a game..the Devils need one. It's just of the 4 2A games going on that night, more than likely the Corbin vs. Russell will easily be the most outmatched on paper.

So you are telling me that in 1A Newport Central Catholic, who has a legit shot at the state title, should not be playing right now? And in 2A, Sheldon Clark who is 9-1 and ranked #6 in the state who's only loss came to the heated rival on a sloppy field should be sitting at home as well twiddling their thumbs? Both these schools have legit shots at the state title yet would be excluded because they are 3 seeds...

Don't negate the ability of Pburg over the past five years... they have been a very, very good team.. just didnt have any titles to show for it although that 2004 team was very capable, and the 2001 ran into a buzzsaw.

Hince why I said past five years collectively.... 2005 Belfry was a butt flinch away from a 3 peat IMO... (although I feel Russell was the best team last year) 2004 Belfry was dominant, Pburg was the second best 2A team I saw that year, with Russell very close to Pburg 2003 Belfry and Middlesboro were both solid, Pirates win title 2002 Breathitt County wins state title 2001 Pburg makes it to the carpet but loses to an unbelievable Bardstown team..despite being dominated Pburg fared as wellagainst bardstown as anyone ese that year. Region 4 has had a team in the title game 4 of the past five seasons... and has consistently been the deepest region with Belfry, Breathitt, Middlesboro, Pburg, and Sheldon Clark. Gotta give the Devils some love though.. they have been on par with the best of Region 4 for the most part.. but it has practically been the Devils alone.

Sheldon Clark is a verrrrrrrrrrry dangerous team. How often do you see the #6 ranked team in the state as a 3 seed? The Cardinal program has built themselves by playing with a chip on their shoulder.

My biggest gripe is this: Russell.... as we have all debated on here has the unfortunate benefit of being in a very, very weak district. Russell should cakewalk to the state quarter's. Corbin.... has a 4 team district, that in my opinion, collectively is worse than the top 4 teams in Russell's district... Corbin is curently 5-5 on the season and quite possibly the weakest 1 seed in the state in 2A...possibly any class. Corbin plays their weak district and pretty much has a cakewalk to the Quarterfinals before making the pilgrimage to Russell. Now you have Russell, who has not truly played a solid team since about Week 3 against Ashland forced to host 7-5 Corbin for the right to play in the state semi's. Meanwhile, in Region 4, if seeding holds true... Belfry will have to beat a #5 or #6 ranked Sheldon Clark in the 2nd round, then a #3 or #4 Middlesboro, just to have the right to play #2 Russell...where if they can continue their 2A gauntlet they will more than likely have #1 Mercer awaiting. Is this fair for Russell, for Belfry, or any other Region 4 team who will have to defeat two ranked ranked teams just to advance to Russell?

...and in the region that has dominated 2A football the past five years collectively (Region 4) Belfry, SC, Middlesboro, and Breathitt are all planning to ruin the party for all parties involved

This should be fun... before week 1 of the playoffs each person select a darkhorse for each class to make a run. When I mean darkhorse, this is translating to a team of lower seedings and/or rankings. For example my picks: 1A- The obvious choice here would easily be NewCath as a 3 seed... I wish I could be more creative but I can't pass this one up and will actually take them as my choice to win the title. Another interesting pick would be 4 seed McLean County who actually gets to take on a 1 seed in metcalfe County that they have recently beat. 2A- 3 seed Trigg County... in what was a very balanced district I like the defense they bring to the table as well as the infamous tradition that Fort Campbell has to choke. Sheldon Clark is a 3 seed who is sitting pretty for those who have the guts to take them... probably the #5 team in the state and a 3 seed. 3A- I'll go big or go home here taking 4 seed North Bullitt who has been on an absolute tear against a very sporadic district. North has hit their strides recently. 4A-I'll take 3 seed Scott County... the Cardinals proved in the regular season that they are right there with the Lex Schools... a couple breaks and this team goes far.

This Mercer team is really starting to remind me of the 2004 Belfry State Champion team... that Pirate team was unstoppable on the ground with two exceptional halfbacks, then towards season's end the critical developing player was the fullback G Childress. The biggest difference though was that the Belfry team in question actually had a couple teams along the way that could really push them towards the end of the season, in particular Prestonsburg (IMO the second best AA team in the state) and Ironton, Ohio.. nonetheless..the dominance on the ground and defensively cannot be ignored as the Titans have became the CLEAR favorite in 2A

See this is annoys me because they would go to that fifth game between two teams who have had a head to head matchup already... wouldn't it have made more sense to resort back to the ehad to head matchup after the 3 way tiebreaker was resolved?

As I post this realize I have the utmost respect for Boyle County... but the quote to describe the Rebels the best may require dropping the word mudders and leaving it be. It's going to be a hard row to hoe in the playoffs... will be an excellent gut check for this young team.

I like the 1A matchup between 4. McLean Co and 1. Metcalfe Co..... McLean recently beat Metcalfe. The 2/3 between Holy Cross and NCC stands out as well. Harlan vs. Williamsburg SC/Pburg is the most notable to me in 2A, we also can't forget 3. Washington Co. vs. 2. Larue County... In 3A, I'll stick with the poster who said Franklin Co. vs. East Jessamine.. the Lousivlle district may get interesting after Doss took down Central. 4A... Any of those games from the distirct with Graves, Marshall, Warren Central, and Christian Co.

Although I can't see Boyd shocking Ashland.... if that does happen then what a mess we weave.... I figured the tie-breaker would have then resorted back to the head to head matchup but I am wrong I guess.... wow

Corbin will be 7-6 when it is all said and done..losing to Russell in the state quarterfinals.

I said it after the New Albany game and will say it again... Doug Beaumont is the best football player in the state all around and he deserves Mr. Football! I also felt, and still feel, that Williams the WR is the most underrated player in the state.

Just so you know Devils... you will enter the playoffs #2 as Western apparently lost to Washington Co.

The sad part is that I feel Pikeville could potentially be 40 points better than Paintsville..... and IMO is at least 2 TD better than Somerset and Harlan.. but in the world of the Panther's that doesn't translate exactly. I watched the replay of the Hazard game last week and it was amazing to see how Pikeville could go from absolutely breath stealing to making you want to hold your breath. I also saw a couple tendacies that Pikeville players did that a good scouting coach will pick up on quickly... it's also a turkey shoot as to how emotinal some of the Panthers can get on each given play. Make no mistake this can be a VERRRRRRRRRRY good team, and Daniel harmon is consistently good... but man they are an enigma

Washington County avoids a 3 way tie with Desales and Etown which could have resulted possibly in them missing the playoffs..and instead grabs a 3 seed
