The drought is over

Congratulations to Grayson County head coach Ed Smart, who has the Cougars in the playoffs for the first time since 1982, when Grayson advanced to the state semifinals before losing to Franklin-Simpson.

Other schools that ended long droughts this year are:

West Carter (1994)

Southern (1998)

Bath County (1998)

Lincoln County (2000)

Campbell County (2001)

Montgomery County (2001)

It had been a long time at Lincoln also. They got close last year going 5 & 5.

Jenkins is another team that ended a long drought. They are in for the first time in 12 years I believe. Congrats to Jenkins.

Congrats!! Maybe the trend can continue for many years to come. The kids deserve it.:thumb:

Congratulations to teams ending long playoff droughts including my alma mater.

But on this occasion let's take a look at Atherton High School. They have NEVER been in the playoffs. Next year with the new classification scheme almost every team will be assured of making the playoffs BUT poor Atherton is in one of the few districts with more then 4 teams.
