My take on this one - surprise in several ways. And I say that because I was surprised that Male isn't anywhere near what I expected. The Brown kid is really, really good and Anthony (the WR) is special. But other than that nobody really showed me anything for Male and the QB was not very good at all. The kid they put in later in the game dropped three of four snaps. I know it was the first game but they will have to improve a lot to beat Manual (IMO). I was also surprised because Trinity is not even close to being as good right now on offense as they were last year. I am sure that will come, but something missing right now. Two field goals, a safety and a defensive TD, plus a really short field TD. I don't think the offense had 300 yards - so what I am saying is they can still improve. And on defense - just wow. They were missing two starters but have kids flying all over the field and they're so athletic. I didn't hear stats but my guess at the game with my buddy was Male had minus-40 yards rushing. And again that was missing the DL that I like the most Alton Jefferson. That defense is nasty!

I watched a replay of the game on the NFHS Network and most of the comments are correct. This game could have been much worse on the scoreboard. The X QB looked like he has an arm was that the kid from out West? But he's not very mobile at all. That's why I like Sivori and thought he'd be a really nice QB for them.

That is true. '61 was only other time it's been played on a campus. Was played at Trinity - was more of a field than a stadium in 1961. Only had about 1,000 in 1960 and the schools decided to play a year at the home school and like 5,000 fans showed up. So they went back to bigger venues and so it began

For what it's worth, Male was without 4-5 guys including Selah Brown. Yes, Ballard looked solid and much improved (o-line is really nice) but Male will be much better next week when they have everyone playing.

It's because the regular-season in Ohio now ends before that game was scheduled to be played. I believe Cincinnati schools have just three weeks of the regular-season left.

It has nothing to do with Kentucky playing or not. He hasn't been around Ballard for a while now. I was told his people were looking for a better fit for him.

And I will say this about the Trinity-CovCath debate 1. I normally don't put too much stock in a preseason scrimmage. But the score was 49-0 in three quarters correct? That's a no-contest and no brainer. 2. We could always settle it next year? I believe I heard this weekend that Trinity has week three or week four open. Wouldn't help this seasons debate but would be fun for a week next year for the two champs to play.

Lots of good things but for sure RPI needs some tweaks. The sheer fact that KCD was No. 1 in Class A and No. 1 overall for most of the time (maybe even all?) proves they need a few changes. KCD had a great year but not sure they were a top-five team in Class A. Again, still a lot of good things to come from it.

Was really impressed this season with the Trinity offensive line. A pair of 1,000-yard rushers is a tough thing to do. Congrats!

It's never bothered me all that much, he's loud and crazy and does it to everyone. Just a little more annoying when Trinity is there.

I didn't post back when this thread was going in October because, well I just didn't want to get into it all. But it's now even more laughable than it was back then to read this thread. The guy has 14 state titles in 20 years and like 20 losses in 20 years to in-state teams. Did he love on my son and tell him how great he was? No. Does he do that with any of his kids - the best or the worst - no. He coaches them and he gets the most out of them and he wins. Look at the best coaches in any sport, at any level and none of them would win a popularity contest. But I'd sure want those guys to coach me! He'll leave whenever he wants.

Armon Tucker had another big night. He had 151 yards and three TDs and stays fresh because the West kid is very good also and gets carries! The sophomore now has over 1,150 yards and 23 TDs on the season.

NH's Jordan Lovett now has 15 INTs on the season? Wow, that's impressive. Will be interesting to see him against Trinity's passing attack.

Trinity allowed 19 yards of offense per the radio broadcast. The Shamrocks scored points but that defense is rolling right now. Turkey Day at Marshall Stadium is the best!

Have to say I am a little surprised by this one. I figured it would be a good game but didn't think Holy Cross could pull it off. They must have improved since I saw them earlier in the season. Congrats to coach Bronger. Great guy!

I know Fox (and his dad) spent a lot of time around coach Beatty. Is the offense similar to what Trinity runs?

Two of the best players on defense left injured, per radio. Never heard if they came back. Charlie Ely and Jack Dingle.

Might have to go back and find that thread from earlier in the year where I told you to watch out for South Oldham. The Dragons are legit.
