Trinity rolls to 2-0. Male falls to 0-1. 

Unfortunately, I was incommunicado on this game.    I see where Jason Frakes has reported that Trinity was missing two defensive starters.    Nonetheless, I understand that T shut  down Bross and M's running game.     Seems to be a very nice win for the Shamrocks.

 

This was not the big time rivalry game people expected. Trinity was the better team by far. They had some miscues and could've easily put a running clock on Male early in the 3rd if not by halftime.

This will probably sum up Trinity this year. They’re just so much better than everyone in their schedule this year. They are so fast on defense; I don’t know his name but their NT is probably the most fun to watch. Not the biggest guy, but he seems strong and very physical. 

Probably can go ahead and send the trophy to Trinity. You never know how things will go, but it looks like everyone else in 6A is playing for second place.

My take on this one - surprise in several ways.

And I say that because I was surprised that Male isn't anywhere near what I expected. The Brown kid is really, really good and Anthony (the WR) is special. But other than that nobody really showed me anything for Male and the QB was not very good at all. The kid they put in later in the game dropped three of four snaps. I know it was the first game but they will have to improve a lot to beat Manual (IMO).

I was also surprised because Trinity is not even close to being as good right now on offense as they were last year. I am sure that will come, but something missing right now. Two field goals, a safety and a defensive TD, plus a really short field TD. I don't think the offense had 300 yards - so what I am saying is they can still improve.

And on defense - just wow. They were missing two starters but have kids flying all over the field and they're so athletic. I didn't hear stats but my guess at the game with my buddy was Male had minus-40 yards rushing. And again that was missing the DL that I like the most Alton Jefferson. That defense is nasty!

I was impressed with freshman Max Gainey for Male. He had 60 yd kickoff return and played a lot at WR. Going to be a kid to watch over 4 years. He’s also really good basketball player.

I predicted 42-17. I've been close 2 weeks in a row.

Trinity held Male to -35 yards rushing and 6 first downs.     That will win you a lot of ball games.
