Manual's schedule is looking tougher by the day. Eastern has some returning talent, and Meade did pretty well against Butler, who is also supposedly impvroved (and Meade probably wants some revenge for the two times Manual beat them last year). Warren Central is also looking to keep up their improvements they've displayed the past few years. Iroqouis has had a surprising amount of talk (although Manual should still be the favorite going into that game). I don't envy the seniors on this team, but I wish them the best. If they can pull off a winning season, I would think they'll most definitely earn a spot in next years rankings.

As much as I like seeing them in the top 10, in no way do I think they belong there. But I'm curious to see how they develope over the season. Every game they'll get that much more experience, and we should see how they learn and hopefully improve each week. Who knows, maybe by the time they get to St. X they'll be a completely different team.

While I agree the matchups would've been much better, Manual had played NA last year, leaving them no choice (unless they choose to break the contract, which I believe is involved with bowl games) but to play Male this year, and Brentwood evidently couldn't get anyone else to play them.

Similar to what Manual did to them last year. Didn't expect things to be much different. Poor New Albany just couldn't get a break in this bowl game. Mad props to them stepping up to the plate, though.

Thank goodness they put one at least one TD up. Still, this is Manual's worse loss since when? Male or St. X of '00? Possibly longer. Either way, this can't be good for the confidence of this young team. I can only hope they have the heart to improve every day so they can prove themselves to the next opponent (Eastern I believe in this case... a much better match for Manual than Brentwood).

Just called a source. 42-0, with 9 minutes left for Manual. No shocker here... I just hope it's because Brentwood really is all they're cracked up to be. Stiil, it would've been nice to see Manual put up some points.

I agree that it's quite a shock to see them in the top 10, and number 5 is that much more surprising. But I also consider that Manual dropped 40+ points on a couple of teams in the first half last year... I understand that you do need excellent athletes to pull that off, but the coaches have to have some credit. They may be able to put something together with this team. Like in 2001.

Manual plays #1 in Tennesse, Brentwood Academy, coached by the winningest coach in Tenn. histoy, or so I've heard. Win or lose, I just hope they play their best... Aw, to heck with that, show them what Kentucky football is all about, Crimsons!!! WIN, BABY!!!

I suppose that's true enough. There'd still be those that argue Danville or any GREAT 1A team could play a game or two with them, but I'd say only in their BEST years. And I don't think even in their best years they could make it through 4A playoffs. (Did Danville win 1A state in 03? I forgot, but I THINK they did.)

I don't have any program from that game, but on the feild the sea of blue was just as great as the sea of red. And since Manual is an academically inclined school, the pull of athletes isn't quite as great. Of course, the team that year was a complete mystery. They go out and lose to Danville in the first game. Go and are beating the stuffing our of Eastern in the first half of the next game, only to have Eastern come back and win. Then they beat Trinity who goes on to win state. Manual doesn't even have a winning season that year (first and only time since '98). So you can argue what kind of team they were that year. On the otherhand, I still say the numbers argument, while logical, isn't a certainty, especially for a team like Danville, who often has several great athletes that can run the stuffing out of other teams for the entire game.

It means to calm down;) . Not trying to speak for Peprock, you just seem a little overexcited about a scrimmage is all. Which isn't all bad... you've got hardcore spirit!

They may have more kids, but more athletes is not necessarily the case. You have schools like Atherton who was once 4A but had maybe two dozen kids on the team, then teams like Danville who have half the male population of the school on the team.

I think you're taking these scrimmage a bit too seriously. And as far as GOOD 4A teams losing to 1A teams, you're giving the numbers way too much credit. Look at Manual in 03 agaisnt Danville. They straight up lost that game. And it wasn't anything to be ashamed of, because if I remember, it seemed like Danville- while yes, a A school, still had just as many players as Manual. And I believe they won state that year.

Not really. Manual usually treats a scrimmage as a scrimmage. Win or lose, as long as they have figured things out and are able to make tweaks for the regular season, that's all that really matters. Lincoln just appears to have fewer needs of tweaks.:lol: I didn't go to this scrimmage, btw.
