Isn't this the year Ryle is supposed to have some sort of "super class" as seniors? I remember when my Cards wanted to re-up with Ryle a few years ago, they didn't want to do it until this year. Is this "super class" juniors or seniors this fall? -CardinalsFan

Good information. Not really hijacking as I think they are intertwined really. Having football at a small school is difficult. The troubles at Brossart and apparently the recent struggles at Holy Cross prove that out. Beechwood and NewCath have centered a good deal of their athletic focus on football and it has helped. But schools like Brossart and St. Henry are clearly the places to be for the cross-country/soccer/track/girls volleyball crowds. -CardinalsFan

Interesting perspective. So it's one man holding up the whole thing? Isn't there a school board? What about the alumni? And the Bishop? I mean, if it was such an overwhelming slam-dunk of an idea, surely others would band together and make it happen, couldn't they? Or could they? When you say "offered up on a silver platter by interested boosters and parents", what does that mean? Does it mean they were willing to kick in the money to jumpstart the program with equipment? Does it mean they had a set of qualified coaches ready to volunteer their time to help offset startup costs? Or, Does it mean they were sick of hearing about St. Henry not having a football team from their Covington Catholic neighbors? Would love to hear more. -CardinalsFan

It seems to me that Brossart has been struggling for a number of years now to get the football program on solid footing. I just have to ask, why try anymore? Isn't it obvious that the interest just isn't there to have a competitive football program? Isn't the competition from Campbell County just too much to overcome? As an aside, this situation is EXACTLY why St. Henry won't go the football route, IMO. I know folks have asked about it before but we can see the real living proof as to why it is just too hard to fund, support, and staff something like this at schools that are entrenched in other sports. Not from me. I think it's a good schedule and one that, if I were a Bluebirds fan, would be very happy to play. Highlands has made it clear they have no interest in playing Colerain ever again, and why should they? Folks in Highlands don't want to travel to Colerain and they shouldn't have to. No sandbags here brother. Graduated our QB, RB, TE, 3/5 of our OL and have 2/3 starters returning on defense. This is going to be a down year for my Cards, I forsee. Especially early on. Playing at home will help but the Rocks are going to be bringing some dudes with revenge on the brain. Will be fun and I hope RockNation makes the trip. I know you all are more than familiar with trips to Cincy but I believe this will be the first time you do it against someone outside the GCL. -CardinalsFan

It will be a very difficult challenge for the Cardinals. Moeller is very big and very deep. Not sure I give them the edge on strength and I can assure you they cant match our speed, offensively or defensively. If the game gets moved to PBS, I would STRONGLY encourage everyone to attend. Not many times you get to see two teams face off who have both beaten Trinity in the same season. -CardinalsFan

It is a very nice facility that holds roughly 3,000 to 5,000 LESS than what will be needed. However, with the game being televised live as well as inclement weather,chances are it will stay at Mason and seating won't be an issue. -CardinalsFan

As an FYI, Moeller is locked into the #2 seed in the playoffs. This game doesn't mean anything to their seeding. -CF

We each would have to win 2 games. Moeller would have to get past Elder again and Colerain would have to beat Lakota West. They would meet in the Regional Final and the winner would move to the State Semi-Final. -CardinalsFan

As I said in the prediction thread. Score 21 points and you can beat the Bombers. Last week, they lost their best two players in RB Ben Glines and their highest recruited player, LB Justin Hilliard. They will still make the playoffs here in Ohio but they will most likely be one and done. Congrats to the Tigers on the win. Best of luck come playoff time. -CardinalsFan

Sadly, this is not a surprise at all. Moeller is absolutely loaded and they are, in my opinion, the prohibitive favorite to repeat as Ohio D1 Champions. Look forward to seeing the Rocks at Colerain next year. -CardinalsFan

Fair questions. Pike: it was the first game of the year, new QB, and Pike was athletically superior to Moeller. And Moeller still won the game. St. Xavier: the Bombers always are stout defensively and this year isn't much different. Plus, they match up really well with Moeller. X could have won that game in OT if they would have kicked the FG and held but Specht and staff went for the jugular. Plus it's a GCL game. And the Crusaders won that game. Lasalle: no explanation. They may have just been off that day. But again, it is a GCL game and Moeller still won. Trinity's challenge will be slowing this offense down. I see the Rocks scoring points, I just wonder if it will be enough. -CardinalsFan
